My little surviving cactus and its offspring [ESP/ENG]
Saludos queridos amigos cultivadores de hermosas suculentas y cactus. Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una experiencia singular que ha marcado un antes y un después en mi travesía como jardinero de estas resistentes y encantadoras plantas.
Mi historia comienza con un pequeño cactus que, contra todo pronóstico, ha logrado no solo sobrevivir sino también prosperar bajo mi cuidado. Aquellos que hemos dedicado parte de nuestro tiempo al cultivo de suculentas y cactáceas sabemos bien que, a pesar de su fama de ser plantas "fáciles de cuidar", cada especie posee sus propias necesidades y caprichos. A veces, un cambio mínimo en su entorno puede significar la diferencia entre la vida y la muerte. En mi caso, he tenido que enfrentarme a varios desafíos que, lamentablemente, resultaron en la pérdida de algunas de mis queridas suculentas. Sin embargo, este pequeño cactus ha sido una excepción notable.
Greetings, dear friends and growers of beautiful succulents and cacti. Today, I want to share with you a unique experience that has marked a before and after in my journey as a gardener of these resilient and charming plants.
My story begins with a small cactus that, against all odds, has managed not only to survive but also to thrive under my care. Those of us who have dedicated part of our time to cultivating succulents and cacti well know that, despite their reputation as "easy-to-care-for" plants, each species has its own needs and whims. Sometimes, a minimal change in their environment can mean the difference between life and death. In my case, I've had to face several challenges that, unfortunately, resulted in the loss of some of my beloved succulents. However, this little cactus has been a notable exception.

Recuerdo el día que llegó a mi vida como un pequeño ser verde y espinoso, apenas destacando entre sus compañeras de jardín. No le di mucha importancia en aquel entonces, centrándome más en especímenes que consideraba más "exóticos" o "difíciles" de cultivar. Pero la naturaleza siempre encuentra su camino para sorprendernos, y este pequeño cactus no fue la excepción. Día tras día, semana tras semana, comencé a notar un cambio. No solo se mantenía verde y saludable, sino que empezó a mostrar signos de crecimiento. Y entonces, un día, la sorpresa: brotes pequeños empezaron a aparecer a su alrededor, como hijos que buscaban la luz y el calor de su progenitor.
Este evento me llenó de una emoción. A pesar de mis fracasos anteriores, este pequeño cactus me demostraba que, con la atención y el cuidado adecuados, la vida siempre encuentra su camino. Fue un recordatorio de que, en el mundo de las suculentas y los cactus, la paciencia y la observación son claves. Cada planta tiene su ritmo, y aprender a sintonizar con él puede llevar a resultados maravillosos.
I remember the day it came into my life as a small green and spiky being, barely standing out among its garden companions. I didn't give it much importance at that time, focusing more on specimens that I considered more "exotic" or "difficult" to cultivate. But nature always finds its way to surprise us, and this little cactus was no exception. Day after day, week after week, I began to notice a change. It not only remained green and healthy but also started to show signs of growth. And then, one day, the surprise: small shoots began to appear around it, like children seeking the light and warmth of their parent.
This event filled me with emotion. Despite my previous failures, this little cactus showed me that, with proper attention and care, life always finds its way. It was a reminder that, in the world of succulents and cacti, patience and observation are key. Each plant has its rhythm, and learning to tune into it can lead to wonderful results.

En unas semanas me daré a la tarea de trasplantar estos pequeños cactus a un nuevo hogar, donde puedan seguir creciendo y prosperando. Este proceso, aunque delicado, es una oportunidad para asegurar su futuro. Requiere de un cuidado especial para no dañar sus pequeñas raíces y proporcionarles el espacio y los nutrientes que necesitan para seguir desarrollándose.
A todos mis amigos cultivadores, les animo a seguir cuidando y apreciando estas pequeñas maravillas de la naturaleza. Cada planta tiene su historia, y nunca sabemos cuál será la próxima en sorprendernos con su belleza y su fortaleza. Sigamos compartiendo nuestros triunfos y aprendizajes, pues en cada rincón de nuestra casa o jardín, hay una lección esperando ser descubierta. ¡Feliz cultivo!
In a few weeks, I will undertake the task of transplanting these little cacti to a new home, where they can continue to grow and prosper. This process, though delicate, is an opportunity to secure their future. It requires special care not to damage their small roots and to provide them with the space and nutrients they need to continue developing.
To all my fellow cultivators, I encourage you to continue caring for and appreciating these small wonders of nature. Each plant has its story, and we never know which will be the next to surprise us with its beauty and strength.
