August 13, 2023

Street photography has been my hobby ever since I discovered some photography-related communities on this platform. Last Sunday, I was wandering in Mid-Level when I thought of taking photos of the streets for the Street Art and Monomad challenge. Then just this week, I read @ewkaw Monomad's Post about Up And Down On The Seven Hills which reminded me to make this blog about the place I visited last weekend, which is similar to her post.

I posted recently my other street photographs taken last Sunday, and you can read them in my blog, Walking Along Art Street (Uma Nota's Just Laugh Art Mural). For this blog, I'll show you some heights of Mid-Level Central in Black & White.

This may sound familiar to those who've been reading my travel blogs. Mid-Level is quite a popular place, especially since luxury residential buildings can be found here where wealthy locals and foreign professionals are living. Even prestigious Hong Kong schools and luxurious dining shops are located here too.

From atop, they said that you could see the panoramic view of the harbor and city skyline. I have never been to the topmost of Mid-Level, probably on one of these days. The neighborhood may look like an ordinary Hong Kong city. But as you step into the shops or inquire about housing, you might be surprised by the prices. That is not surprising actually, because Mid-Level is in between the capital city, Central, and Victoria Peak, two of the most expensive places in Hong Kong.

It's a bit perspiring when going to Mid-Level as if you'll be climbing a series of hills since it is located in a high urban area. You'll be seeing a series of stairs as well. For sporty people, they use this place as a jogging area. It is definitely the perfect place for some cardio exercises. Even just walking upward is great exercise. Not in the summer, though. You would really pant so much. But you might be tempted by the different tea shops around.

For a more convenient way, there is an alternative though. Don't you know that the world's longest covered escalator is located here? Yep! Check out my blog about it. So if one doesn't want to take the stairs and hilly roads, he can take the escalator. This series of escalators runs from Queen Victoria Street to the 16th bisecting streets. That's how long it is! You can travel from the first street to the sixteenth easily and comfortably on the escalators. You can visit different attractions nearby too.

It's not just the business establishments that are busy here, but also the streets. Construction is always ongoing in different parts of Mid-Level, making the streets a lot busier. The popular historical compound Tai Kwun which is the center of art and culture in Central, is also here. You can check out my blog about it. Art lovers who like seeing art exhibitions would love this place. This is also a busy compound packed with fancy shops and dining spots.

Another attraction in Mid-Level are the streets with painted walls and graffiti. They are all over the place, making it the best spot for renowned and aspiring artists. The annual Art Festival is also held here. The place is turned into an amazing art street during the festival. Buildings are painted with different murals, and graffitiers are free to show vandalism in permitted spots. Check out this post and this too for more art murals in this area.

And that's it! The heights of Mid-Level have been shared. So if you visit the capital city of Hong Kong someday, don't forget to wander around Mid-Level. You'll definitely love the place!

This is in participation to #Monomad Challenge. You can check the link to know the rules if you wish to participate.

Happy weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Seeing photos of a city in black and white is very attractive. It gives the feeling that you are there but at the same time you are not. They are beautiful. I congratulate you for such beautiful captures. 😉

Besides, with them, you have given us a nice tour of that part of Hong Kong that I'll write down in case destiny takes me there sometime;)

After see the first picture I didn't thought it was a black and white picture. I felt like it was colorful one but because of cloudy weather it's looking a little bit like that. I realized when I scroll down later.

Street photography has been my hobby

I also like it but I don't do it because I need to be careful because who knows if someone snatch my smartphone from my hand which is a possible scenario here.

Although all the photographs are good but the last one is the best one in my eyes. It's attracting me very much 🙂.
