Manchester United Historical Items At Youth Football Academy Summit In Tai Kwun

I roamed around Tai Kwun historical site again yesterday for the nth time. It was because I visited a place in Central to process something, then I thought of looking for a place to spend the rest of my afternoon. The site had etched its mark in my memory, and I always loved visiting it again and again. There is always something new to see and discover for one's pleasure.

As I stepped into its premise, it wasn't the historic facades that caught my attention, but the giant art installations in the Parade Ground. I immediately figured out what are those installations. They giant footballs and blue interactive showrooms.

Upon confirming the installations, I learned that there is a Jockey Club Youth Football Academy Summit with the theme "Motivate the potential to create the future together." It is until the 13th of August, and those on the ground are football art installations with contemporary designs by certain artists. They actually glowed at night as I saw one post on FB.

There are three giant footballs in the center of the parade ground. I touched them and they are made from native materials if I'm not mistaken. They have the same textures as rattan. They actually resemble soccer balls more than footballs.

On both sides are plastic domes in blue and white colors which I initially thought were glass interactive rooms.

Upon stepping into the other interactive dome, I saw collections of authentic items from the Manchester United team that are significant to football history. There are sneakers, shirts, pennants, and medals worn by former football players.

For instance, the sneakers with green lines are Handpin's Sneakers worn in the 2000-01 season. The other sneakers were worn by Gary Nivelli in the 1995-96 season.

Meanwhile, this medal is by Manchester United from the 2011 Northern Ireland Milk Cup, a world-renowned junior championship. Football lovers here definitely know that this team won several times in this event.

This shirt is from FA Cup Final in 1957 worn by Li Ye. There are other shirts displayed worn by different players from the same team.

After following the socials of the Jockey Club, which is the main sponsor of this event, I was given a souvenir Jockey Club pony keychain. It's cute, isn't it?

It was a great experience seeing those authentic items from the Manchester United team up close. I'm only seeing them on television, but I felt like they were in the event. This place, Tai Kwun, truly has a lot of art exhibitions. And there is always a reason why I keep coming back to this place. Art lovers would love this place too.
