Festive Night Walk With Some Fireworks Display

It was a gloomy Sunday with a sky covered with gray clouds, and the temperature dropped which made me tuck myself into bed the whole morning. I decided to go out after late lunch in the afternoon, particularly at past two in the afternoon. Despite the heaviness of my eyes from binge-watching of Korean series and the grayness that enveloped the sky, I got up because my tummy complained, lol. Yet, I had a longer rest that day.

I guess it was the start of real winter, as I had to wear warmers beneath my outer clothes. With my beanie on, I made my way down the road to look for food, something hot, to relieve my cold body. The longer I stay here, the lower my cold tolerance becomes. That's pretty weird, or probably just a sign of aging, lol. So later I went back home to get my scarf as I couldn't bear the temperature. My neck area is more sensitive to cold.

The Super-super restaurant was the first one that came to my mind where I planned to eat hot congee or porridge. Unfortunately, the congee of my choice was sold out, so I ordered udon noodles instead, paired with hot lemon tea. While savoring my food, I was having a little chit-chat with my mother over the phone. We talked about some random stuff and some plans that might help us get financial freedom in the future if those are achieved. cross-fingers

I visited Central again on Sunday because I'll be meeting my friend at night. Beforehand, I visited Lung Fu Mall to buy some supplements and moisturizers as I badly needed them for my dry skin this winter and the probiotics for my weak tummy. Afterward, I headed out to continue my walk.

Central, the capital city of Hong Kong is more elegant as the daylight fades and lights turn on. The bustling street transformed into a different scene when city lights came alive. Despite being chaotic, I feel tranquility when walking at night. I bet you guys feel it too. Each time I walk at night, I always admire skyscrapers standing proudly in all corners. They sure are fascinating to look at.

As I continued my journey through the illuminating streets of the city, I stumbled upon a street vendor selling Christmas lanterns and glitter lamps with mesmerizing designs. Their glow invited me and other passersby to pause and admire their cute magical charm. I wish I could buy one, but their prices are quite high. I would probably next time.

Locked inside glowing and glittering lanterns and lamps are Disney Princesses, snowman, reindeers and others. Meanwhile, Santa Claws took the center stage in many of these lanterns. One would truly admire the craftsmanship of these creations. Watching them could make you feel young again at heart, and makes you reminisce some good Christmas memories. While there's a crowd around, I too had stayed and felt the essence of Christmas while listening to the soothing music played from one of the lanterns.

After a while, I left and headed to Kowloon West to meet a friend. I rode a train and get off at Elements Mall. Amidst the atrium is another Christmas installation called Merry Dreamscape.

A dazzling eigth-meter tall Christmas tree adorned in silver and gold decorations stand in the middle of a magical box house. It looked magnificent in shimmering lights. Standing around it are more Christmas trees in their adorable shapes and decorations. Those trees surprised visitors with their moving eyes. As if the whole place came to life once magical Christmas music is played.

At past seven in the evening, I reached Art Park where I'll be meeting my friend. The Art Park never failed to surprise me. Surrounding trees adorned with lights makes the place romantic at night. But the excitement and joy awaits by the harbor.

I was surprised by the swarming crowd along the promenade. It was then when I learned that there'll be a firework display at eight in the evening. Due to the crowd, I couldn't locate my friend, so we ended up watching the fireworks display at separate spots.

The fireworks were displayed along with the Symphony of Lights which illuminates the Victoria Harbor every eight in the evening. This is in connection with the upcoming Christmas celebration. There'll be fireworks display every weekend until Christmas night, so the seaside will always be filled with visitors hoping to watch the fireworks and the iconic symphony of lights.

People found their positions beforehand. Meanwhile, as a late comer, I was at the back and my view was blocked by this girl.

The anticipation filled the air and the excitement grew as the clock hit eight in the evening. With their camera on, the crowd's eyes were fixed upon the harbor filled with spectacular fireworks in different colors. Along the skyscrapers lights, the fireworks illuminates the dark harbor and painted the dark horizon with colorful hues.

It ended with a big blast and created a loud cheer from the crowd. Despite being sandwiched in the middle of crowd, at least, I was able to watch the fireworks and took some good snapshots of it. Although it wasn't new to me and I've seen this kind of Hong Kong's fireworks along with the symphony of lights several times, the energy of the crowd always gave me new excitement, anticipation, and joy.

As the fireworks display ended, Winterfest awaited amidst the Art Park. More excitement and fun have done which will be shared in a separate post.

And there she is, my friend, who, just like me, is also into photography and traveling. I hope I could convince her to join Hive soon. A perfect place to share her adventures.

That was a long walk, literally long walk. I arrived home at around eleven at night, quite exhausted but happy. It's been a while since my friend and I saw each other, and we had a great chat before we parted ways. I never knew how my weekend would be like, but it was painted with beautiful and colorful hues that made my week complete.
