25 March 2023

Central, the heart of Hong Kong and probably the most bustling one. Skyscrapers, retail stores, luxury malls, popular restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, pubs, and anything else you can imagine are all crammed in this capital city. This was also the very first city that was introduced to me when I first stepped into this country.

Every time I come to this city, I find myself wanting to explore other streets because there is so much more to see here than just the area I usually go to. Additionally, this is a huge city to explore.

IMG_20230223_101102.jpg

You'll be able to see some of the oldest trams in Hong Kong as you walk along Queen Victoria street. And from the name itself, you could tell after whom it was named. I already tried it twice and it was truly fun. Next time I want to try this one in the photo below with an open deck to see the view clearly on top with no barrier.

As part of China and with Chinese culture, traditional Chinese decorations can be seen in any part of the city. Even in this remote narrow alley. But this seemingly ordinary alley becomes prettier in Chinese New Year.

And as night arrives, you'll witness a diverse nightlife. This, probably, is the capital hub for pubs, nightclubs, bars, and other else for partygoers. I must admit that someday, I also want to try going to one of the clubs. The Mid-Level Central which I usually visited is a district for clubbing and nightlife that attracts a lot of foreigners and even locals.

One night when I was walking in Mid-level Central, I stumbled upon the Barkada restaurant. I was surprised to see a Filipino term as the name of a restaurant. The Filipino term Barkada means group of friends or peer in English. Either the owner is a Filipino, or inspired by Filipino culture. I love the tagline they use, "Come as strangers, leave as friends."

IMG_20230314_230852.jpg

I must be proud to say that, that we, Filipinos, are the friendliest and most family-oriented people, even to complete strangers. That is a part of our culture and the reason why many foreigners adore visiting our beloved country. It's not simply to view stunning natural features, but also to experience our warm culture and customs.

This street is also perfect for food tripping as there are a lot of food stalls serving different Western, European, and Asian food.

There is a street they called Art Street. It isn't the name of the street but it got its name due to several art murals and graffiti on different corners and alleys. It's pretty cool walking along this street while admiring those art murals made by local artists.

I must commend the store owners too for allowing those artists to color their walls. I, for one, would want my exterior wall to be painted with beautiful art murals too. This becomes one of the attractions in Central, particularly in Mid-Level.

Not just restaurants, bars, clubs, and art streets can be found here, but also some cool shops that seem to have been established a long time ago. Their settings, not just products, are what make people visit them.

So if you'll visit Hong Kong someday, make sure to have a walk at Mid-Level Central. It's the best spot to experience the nightlife, see art, savor a new taste of drinks and food, and jump into wild music to your content. But of course, given that it's the capital city of this expensive country, expect the higher expense as well. But, sometimes, it's the happy experience that matters, not the amount we spent 😊.

Thanks for dropping by.
