Amazing Walk To One Art Lane

"Few people go to art exhibitions. The power of street art is that it goes to people's daily life to be seen."

Undoubtedly, there are a lot of things to do, and sights to see in Hong Kong that one would truly have fun! Immersing in nature in the countryside, exploring modern cities, tasting Asian and Western culinary flavors, luxury shopping, road tripping, visiting art and heritage museums, historical spots, and a lot more. But do you know that Hong Kong is also a home for global artists?

When I heard about Art Lane in Sai Ying Pun, I opted to visit it one Sunday to take a breather after some family dispute. Nature and art are among those that could alleviate my stress, and divert my negative mood into a positive one.

There are different ways to reach Sai Ying Pun. From areas outside Hong Kong Island, the train is the most convenient. The Art Lane is located outside Exit B1. The station itself is full of art too in the form of bas-relief panels. You can read my Liketu post about it.

For those within Hong Kong Island, it is more convenient and cheaper to travel via tram. It is like a bus on the railway. Besides, you can have a glimpse of HK Street while on a tram because of its big and open windows.

I alighted at Sai Ying Pun station and followed the sign to Art Lane. I've been to Sai Ying Pun several times before with my boss, but I never thought of the existence of One Art Lane.

Artworks in One Art Lane were perhaps part of the Art Festival last March which I mentioned in my post about Uma Nota's Art Mural. I was supposed to look for it a week after I visited Art Street, but I never thought I would found it in an unexpected day.

During the Art Festival, different global artists visited Hong Kong to spread colors in the streets of Mid-Level Central and Western Districts which include Sai Ying Pun. This has been a tourist attraction for Instagrammable photoshoots taking photos in all corners of the Art Lane.

Look at how this kid poses. He's such a pro at a very young age, encouraged by her mother. Aside from his cute poses and face, I loved his glasses too, haha.

The whole lane of residential and commercial buildings is painted with different large-scale art murals by different local and international artists with different concepts and stories to convey to the public. Not just art lovers will love this place, but as well as those who love colorful and scenic views. The place is truly vibrant, full of life, and whimsical creativity.

Some bamboo scaffoldings used by artists are still unremoved, either they are kept for the next art mural, or the work of art is newly made which I guess is the reason because of the vibrant color of the wall paintings. Some walls are even covered, and behind those are probably art murals that are yet to be exposed.

While looking at my photos in my gallery, I realized that some art murals depict the transition of seasons. This part depicts the autumn season in those vibrant colors of autumn trees painted on the walls and falling autumn leaves on the staircase.

Meanwhile, this part depicts spring. Beautiful flowers in full bloom are painted on walls and give charms to the place. Some even come in a get-up that suits the wall paintings.

This large-scale mural of a girl watering flowers in pots is the main attraction. The mural covered the whole first two floors of the building. This vibrant environment has a considerate neighborhood as they allowed artists to color their walls artistically. If I were the building owner, I wouldn't hesitate to permit the artists to turn my walls into a canvas.

Cute cats and pots of flowers are resting atop ventilators.

This area depicts the town of Vienna and reminds me of the canals in Venice. Both are beautiful places I wish to visit someday.

The place looks romantic with the vibrant colors of autumn. The vivid shops and houses give you the impression that you are wandering in Vienna. Murals of doors and windows with flowers are truly cute.

Meanwhile, this area depicts joy, music, and art. Animals are playing musical instruments on the right side, and a man with a trumpet is on the left with dancing ladies. You can imagine the man playing jazz music while the ladies are dancing along with it.

This mural was made in tribute to the legend Bruce Lee. On his side are bunches of colorful chickens which I bet is inspired by a mobile game.

You won't see a facade with no art mural. Even the walls in small alleys have works of art directly painted with different concepts.

This building is painted in yellow with blue designs. Simple, yet attractive. It shows waves with some ducks swimming in the water, and a monkey that reaped an apple swinging on a huge branch of a tree.

There are pet-friendly cafes, shops, and galleries in this lane too. So soon, this will become a hub for art and culture.

So if you are looking for street art in Hong Kong, One Art Lane in Sai Ying Pun is the perfect place.

Wow a whole lot of murals even the stairs are painted :) I wish to visit places like you showed. I seem to find a mural or two is all. Maybe I should search for some here, I'd think they would be here somewhere. Thanks for sharing enjoyed the artwork.

they should turn the whole area into an art hub, not just this lane, and all houses should be painted with murals. It'd be trending worldwide hehe.. But I guess not all building owners would permit such activity..

I think your on to something. How cool it would be to go to a neighborhood away from the city business and see artwork on houses.

Streed art is such kind of thing which attracts me very much. Unfortunately, I can see street art in our area in rare cases and that street art is very simple.

Look at how this kid poses. He's such a pro at a very young age, encouraged by her mother.

The kid of the recent generation can give more poses from us and I can understand it well when I see my little brother.

Those pictures of street art you shared here are mind-blowing and I liked all of it. I wish I could go there to enjoy the beauty of it.
