Mein Vater hat mir von klein auf die Grundlangen zum Pilze suchen und bestimmen vermittelt. Ein Experte bin ich mit Sicherheit nicht. Lateinische Namen beherrsche ich auch nicht.
Aber bei dieser Art von Pilzen habe ich auch absolut keinen Plan. So einen Ähnlichen wie auf Bild 5 habe ich letzten Herbst auch vor die Linse bekommen.

Some species of mushroom are very poisonous while some are edible and make great soups. In my place, we eat the ones which grow on dead and decaying palm tree .

Wie es der Zufall will, bin ich heute morgen im Wald über eine kleine Ansammlung von Baumpilzen gestolpert, die hoch hinaus wollen.

Gut "hoch hinaus" heißt in ihrem Fall ca. 25 cm, aber jeder fängt ja mal klein an ;)

Die Ecke Zunderschwamm und Lackporling sollte durchaus passen. Aber wie andyjaypowell liegen mir auch eher die genießbaren Arten. Wobei ich hier auch auch getrocknete Birkenporlinge rumliegen habe, die bei Magenproblemen helfen.

Ich hatte mal eine Wachstums-Foto-Reihe von einem Lackporling angefangen in unregelmäßigen Abständen. Muss diesen Herbst mal schauen, wie er jetzt aussieht.

General features

The leaves are a green, herbaceous plant. Its leaves are veined and muted, and its edges have spines. The leaves turn in the fall and turn into bronze color. The flowers are single-layered, white and pink veined. New shoots come out of the middle, develop vertically, are light colored and thorny. Flowers continue to open from early summer to early autumn.

Schöne Spaziergänge machst du da mein lieber. Ich finde Baumpilze schon immer sehr interessant, gerade weil da leben auf manchmal schon töten Bäumen gedeiht. Das hat mich früher am meisten fasziniert zeigt es doch anschaulich den Kreislauf des Lebens.

I had heard a lot about polypores but this is first time I saw it's pictures. It is said that polypores are healthy and full of nutrients but I'm bit allergic to mushrooms and has faced a Fungi related disease due to it. But still, it's something useful information. Thanks for sharing @jaki01 :)

Die Pilze sind ja schon irgendwie faszinierende Lebewesen (beinah hätte ich Pflanzen geschrieben, aber ich wollte nicht auch noch auf den Deckel kriegen ;-) ). Auch wenn es schwer vorstellbar ist, dass man wirklich nur den kleinsten Teil des Gebildes sieht (zumindest bei Bodenpilzen) und der Rest unterirdisch wächst.
Weißt du, ob das bei den Baumpilzen ähnlich ist? Also ob die Myzele (?) innerhalb des Baumes haben? Aber das würde evtl. ja doch zu dessen Zerstörung führen? Die Form der Pilze lädt ja an sich dazu ein, sie als Trittleiter zum Baumsteigen zu verwenden, aber ich fürchte, da würde man nicht allzu weit kommen - zumindest in meiner Gewichtsklasse... :-D

Wenn ich diese Bilder sehe, muss ich an meine Kindheit zurück denken. Sehr oft ging ich mit meinen Vater Pilze sammeln und er hat mir so vieles beigebracht. Die frische Waldluft habe ich immer so geliebt und wir konnten so stundenlang rumschlendern. Ich wusste zwar, dass man bei den Bäumen, die Jahre anhand der Wachstumsringe bestimmen kann. Bei den Baumpilzen wusste ich dies noch nicht. Danke für diesen wunderbaren, naturverbundenen Artikel :-). Liebe Grüsse

Für die nächste Pilzsuppe eigenen die sich vielleicht nicht direkt, aber ich habe auch schon ähnliche an Bäumen gesehen.
Teilweise waren die so groß und scheinbar "fest" das einige diese sogar genutzt haben um am Baum hochzuklettern, wie eine art Biotreppe ;)

Es ist schön zu sehen, wie facettenreich Bildern von Dingen aussehen können, die man bei einem normalen Spaziergang übersieht. Mir war auch gar nicht klar, dass die Ringe wie bei Bäumen das Alter anzeigen (mehr oder weniger). Die Struktur auf dem Bild mit der Rinde gefällt mir auch sehr gut :)

I found that they are full of protein, fiber, B vitamins, vitamin C, calcium, minerals, and selenium and they also contains antioxidants That is a unique property of mushrooms.

Hier ein Bild das ich selbst vor einiger Zeit bei uns im Garten gemacht habe. Die Pilze befinden sich auf einer Baumwurzel, welche man hier auf Grund der dichten Besiedelung gar nicht mehr erkennen kann

Rotrandige Baumschwämme und Zunderschwämme gibt es auch bei uns im Spessart reichlich. Ich bin auch immer wieder fasziniert und kann sie nicht oft genug fotografieren. Das Besondere an diesen Pilzen ist, dass sie die kranken Bäume zersetzten und so frischen Humus für den Wald schaffen.

Ein klasse Beitrag der mir sehr gut gefällt!

Unglaublich. Ich habe noch nie zuvor so große Baumpilze gesehen und ich hätte vermutlich nie gedacht, dass mich diese sogar faszinierend würden. Im Normalfall wäre ich sicherlich nach dem ersten Bild wieder zurückgegangen, aber ich muss gestehen fesselnd.
Denkst du Pilze sind Pflanzen oder Lebewesen? (Natürlich atmen pflanzen auch), aber bei Lebewesen geht man ja entweder von instiktgeleiteten (zb Tieren) oder denkenden Wesen aus (zB der Mensch). Deine Meinung und die der anderen würde mich Interessieren.

Ausgezeichnet finden Sie eine Menge Pilze. Ich mag es auch, ich nahm es in einem Wald in Mérida Venezuela, es war klein, aber gut geformt. Die Baumkrebs in Venezuela heißt "oreja de palo". Danke schön.

Das wusste ich jetzt nicht, dass beim Pilz auch mehr oder weniger die Jahresringe gezählt werden können. Sehr interessant. Bleibt ein Pilz überhaupt solange auf der Oberfläche am Leben? Wusste ich gar nicht....

Leider bin ich mykologisch auch überhaupt nicht bewandert (hatte zwar mal eine Übung im Studium wo wir uns auch ein bisschen mit Pilz Bestimmung beschäftigt haben, aber das ist schon lange her und war nur sehr grob...) und kann daher auch nur die Fotos betrachten und mich an der Vielfalt erfreuen, ohne zu wissen welche Arten das alles sind...

Thank you for sharing the pictures of interesting and beautiful. it is a fungus that grows on the top of the plant is dead and rotting.dead plants can also provide benefits to other creatures, amazing.

I always love comparing the different names different languages give plants and animals. Baumpilze = tree mushroom. Descriptive, creates a mental image. Polypore = sterile, scientific. I prefer the German in this case for sure. A polypore could be anything. A Baumpilze is perfect here.

Mit Fachwissen zu dem Thema kann ich leider auch nicht dienen, aber ich finde es immer wieder aufs neue faszinierend, welche Farben und Formen sich finden lassen, wenn man mit offenen Augen durch die Wälder spaziert.

Hey @jaki01 ! I've been on vacation for last week or so and haven't been on steemit or chat much - but I'm returning tomorrow and decided to check in and saw that @lemouth had direct messaged me in discord this post. So, of course, I had to do a little sleuthing.

A lot of these woody polypores tend to grow on specific tree species. And of course seeing the underside clearly/getting a spore print would be further help along with some other details that might assist a more specific identification.

Having said that, based on these photos and your location - I'm assuming Europe - I think it is worth comparing what you found to Fomes fomentarius. That link leads to an American centric post on the species, which is found across the world. Wikipedia has a good section on it as well.

Some of your photos looks like it could be multiple species, or one species in different states of maturity. Another possibility worth comparing to Fomitopsis pinicola, specifically the picture with the redder edge.

If not these particular species, something within the Fomes genus seems likely. The inside of the caps can be used as tinder i think and tends to be very dry.

That's what I was able to come up with on mobile here in CA. Always happy to check out other mushroom pictures if you stumble upon any.

Whoa giant mushrooms. Somehow it's kinda creepy, I think because I'm thinking we can get body fungus if we touch them? Hahaha, I dunno.
