Hello Traveler. I hope you're doing well and exploring fascinating places around the world. For several days, some relatives of ours who live in the Khanpur district of Rahimyar Punjab have been inviting us to visit them. Since Labor Day was approaching, we had planned to visit there on that day. Let me tell you about Khanpur; it's very important historically. It's also close to the Cholistan Desert. Khanpur is prominent in Pakistan because of its cotton and sugarcane production.

Its food is also famous, especially its sweet dish called "khoya perha."

At that time, I was in Rajanpur, so the distance to Khanpur was only 140 km. Therefore, I decided to travel there by car with some of my friends.

We were a total of 6 individuals and one child. The road was really beautiful. Some parts were rough and made driving difficult. We passed through green fields and rivers along the way.

After a 2-hour drive, we reached our relatives' house. Their house was next to the railway station, and they were given a railway house because uncle works in the railway department. They welcomed us with cold drinks, and arrangements for food were made outside. I was told that lunch had been arranged at a famous old restaurant in Khanpur, known for its delicious food.

In their lane, there were two houses that fascinated us a lot. These houses were nearly 100 years old. It's famous about them that they date back to before the partition of India. However, a few years ago, the Khanpur municipal committee declared them as hazardous and evacuated them. But even now, these houses stand as a symbol of grandeur and glory.

These houses carry the historical legacy of a nation, yet it's disheartening to see political advertisements scattered across their walls.

The famous hotel I mentioned earlier, where our meal was arranged, is called the City Hotel. It's not very decorative from the outside, and the indoor seating is quite simple.

This hotel stands along the busy Model Town Road, nestled amidst a vibrant market teeming with shops and activity.

Indoor seating was arranged in a traditional style, with cushions placed on the floor for comfortable sitting. It was in a separate air-conditioned room.

The chef was preparing fresh dishes for us. Since it was evening time, there wasn't much rush. Lunchtime had passed, but dinner was scheduled to start a bit later.

To start with, fresh salads including a regular salad, chickpea salad and Russian salad were served. Along with the salads, chicken biryani and Qabuli pulao had also been prepared.

All these dishes turned out to be excellent, and due to our hunger, we enjoyed them while strolling around. However, the famous dishes we came here for were still awaiting us.

Mutton Chanp & Mutton karahi were served with hot rotis (bread). Just seeing them reignited our appetite. They were indeed as delicious as we had heard.

The meal was abundant for our group of 7 people, and we were already full, with some food left over. There was no lack in the hospitality extended to us.

When the bill arrived, I was quite surprised. It was approximately 27.5k PKR.🙂

After that, we left the hotel and headed towards their house. The journey didn't end there. We stayed for one night here. Tomorrow, we will explore more of this city.
To be continued...

I hope you liked this post! I'll share the next day's experiences in the next post. Thank you for reading.
