Exploring Hoi An Old Town and Its Homes

Hoi An Old Town is a must-see destination in Vietnam, offering a rich culture to explore and take photos of. Located in the Quang Nam province, the city is known for its well-preserved ancient architecture, beautiful beaches, and markets.
So, as you know I love taking pictures when I go walking. I'm a big fan of capturing the beauty of the world in my photos and sharing it with others. Today I'd like to share a few of the photos I took when I recently visited Hoi An.
Hoi An is a city on the central coast of Vietnam and it is a truly amazing place. The city is known for its colorful and unique architecture as well as its vibrant culture. Everywhere you go you can see beautiful buildings with intricate decorations and colorful lanterns. The streets are full of life and the people are incredibly friendly.
Historic Homes in Hoi An Old Town
Hoi An Old Town is a great destination for photographers, with its historic homes displaying centuries of age and character. The traditional architecture, colorful facades, and detailed woodwork of the homes make them a unique and captivating backdrop for photos. Many of these homes have stood in the same spot for centuries, having survived alternating periods of prosperity and turmoil.
The homes are often built in the traditional Chinese style, with courtyards and tiled rooftops that make them even more photogenic. Whether a professional or amateur photographer, you’ll find plenty of inspiration in Hoi An’s historic homes.
For example, the Chinese Assembly Hall: Built in 1771, the Chinese Assembly Hall is the oldest wooden architecture in Hoi An. It was built by the Chinese community living in Hoi An at that time. The building houses a giant Buddha statue, which was placed there in the 19th century. So cool to see!
Traditional Vietnamese Teakwood Houses
Hoi An is an ancient city in Central Vietnam renowned for its traditional Vietnamese teakwood houses. These beautiful houses are a sight to behold, showcasing intricate details and craftsmanship unparalleled in many places throughout the world. Built with sustainable materials, these houses are extremely durable and capable of lasting for centuries.
The teakwood houses of Hoi An are a symbol of the city’s rich culture and history. These traditional homes are made from solid teakwood, with intricate details and patterns that draw upon the knowledge and expertise of local craftspeople. The wood is covered in a protective layer of lacquer that gives the houses a unique and distinctive appearance.
The architecture and decorations of the houses reflect the thriving economy and culture of Hoi An during that period. The houses are owned by families who are primarily engaged in businesses related to tourism. They have been passed down from one generation to the next, and all families follow a strict rule of preserving the house's heritage.
Hoi An is great for the Instagram photos
Hoi An is one of those places that will make you feel like you’re living in a dream, and it’s the perfect backdrop for some amazing Instagram photos. Whether you’re strolling along the ancient streets of the old town, admiring the stunning yellow-tiled buildings, or wandering through the vibrant lantern-filled markets, you’ll find countless picture-perfect moments.
Many small streets to explore with your camera!
The old town is home to many colorful and quaint streets, which are great for photography. Most of these streets are small and are lined with colorful shophouses.
The streets around the Japanese Bridge are a great example of the architectural style in Hoi An. The small streets around the Chinese Assembly Hall are also good for photography. Y

Hoi An and TET holiday
I have written about this already, but it bears repeating!
The annual holiday celebrates the Lunar New Year and marks the start of spring. During this time, the old town is decorated with colorful lanterns and paper lanterns. The city is also filled with lantern processions, water puppet shows, and a traditional dragon dance.

These buildings are a great subject for photography and are a unique way to learn about the history of the city, I enjoy taking photos of them often!
Best times to visit
Hoi An is a great place to visit all year round. The climate is tropical and warm throughout the year, and it rains during the monsoon season between October and January ish...
The best time to visit is during the dry season between the End of January and till March ish..
