#Wednesday Walk - A Walk with Monkeys
This post is for the #wednesdaywalk challenge and the #makemesmile challenge collaboration. This collaboration initially took place once a month, but due to its popularity, @tattoodjay (of the #wednesdaywalk) and @elizacheng (of #makemesmile) decided to make it a weekly thing.
If you want to know more about the rules, visit the Wednesday Walk Community, started by @tattoodjay. You will find all the rules there if you want to start posting in this great community.
On a recent outing we went for a walk in Danville Park. Danville Park is a protected coastal lowland forest and wetland in Durban North, on the east coast of South Africa. A variety of bird species can be seen in this park and there is no shortage in the presence of monkeys.
This particular walk was quite a joyful and fun-filled experience for us. There was a lot of activity as the monkeys were curious and often joined us by following us wherever we were walking...lol.
They often remained in the shadows, but I'll share seven photos that are clear enough to share today.
Let's start with this youngster who was a real little nosy-parker and closely watched every move we made...
There was no hesitation from him to jump from branch to branch to follow us, and when we stopped, he would carefully study us to see what we were up to...lol
A little further on, we came across this male.
He was casually grooming himself...
But as soon as we decided to move on, he didn't hesitate to follow us for quite some time.
I have many more photos, but the monkeys often remained in the shadows and I couldn't get that many photos which are clear enough to share here. At one point, we had a whole troop following us. They were extremely active, constantly moving around and jumping from tree to tree. It was amazing to see the speed at which they where moving through the forest. At times, we couldn't even see them clearly, but you could hear them, making it sound like the forest came alive around us.
And with that, I'll end today's post.
Thank you for reading my post! I do appreciate it!

What a wonderful adventure! 🤗❤️🫰
It was amazing! Thanks for stopping by, @barriotic2020tv! I'm glad you enjoyed my post!
Having wildlife in the scene makes the walk on the woods more realistic and that suggests that the place remains to be healthy though it is visited by humans. 🤗❤️🫰
What an awesome walk so cool seeing the monkeys
Thanks for joining the Wednesday walk
Have a great day
It was such a great experience walk through the area while surrounded by monkeys! Thanks for stopping by, @tattoodjay!
That looks like a fun adventure. It reminds me of a past travel with my daughter in Subic where we stopped somewhere monkeys would come near. We were told not to feed them though as they might come in droves. 😅 This looks more fun as it's in the park. Fascinating how they also find humans interesting. 😆 Happy midweek!

It was fun indeed! It is never a good idea to feed the monkeys though. You'll end up with more problems that you can handle...lol. We have monkeys in the area where we live too. And it is a general rule everybody knows... Do not feed the monkeys. When they get fed by humans, they start coming into the houses and cause havoc. If you walk on the road, carrying a bag or anything, they would come and grab it from you to see if there is anything to eat... It can become a real problem and even scary at times. We've even had reports in our area where dogs got attacked by monkeys while the owners were out. Especially when they come in troops, they can become aggressive and dangerous. And it all starts with being spoilt by humans.
So the golden rules is to remember that they are wild animals. And while we respect that and allow them to remain wild animals, we have the opportunity to enjoy them...as wild animals.
Thanks for stopping by, @iamraincrystal! Happy weekend to you!

Yes, they are fascinating! I love watching them and sometimes have a giggle when I see what they get up to. Especially when they have little ones with them... they can really get up to mischief...lol!
Have a great weekend, @benthomaswwd!
Walking with monkeys! That's something exceptional and interesting as well!
They must had added more pleasure to your walk!
Were they expecting some foods from you?

It was a great walk! the monkeys are always curious, but feeding them is a big no no...lol. Once they discover they can get food from humans it can become a problem.

Great pics and cute monkeys😁
Thank you for stopping by and for your feedback, @hopefulsoul! Have a great day!
The monkeys are not harmful right?
And I think they are scared too because they are careful with their movement.
No, they are not harmful. They are very curious, but they will not harm you. It can become a problem when people want to spoil them (even with good intentions) by feeding them. Then they start seeing humans as a source of easy food and it can cause problems, especially if they think you have something and you don't want to give to them. But as long as we respect them and enjoy them as wild animals and don't disturb them, they won't harm you.
Okay
Thank you for explaining.
I was curious.
You're welcome👍
That's very cool, my friend. Monkeys are indeed super curious critters, and their curiosity made them Blockchain stars! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
