Two Things You Can Enjoy at Brighton Beach, Durban, South Africa.

There are always two things that stand out distinctively to me when we visit Brighton Beach...

  • The Brighton Beach Tidal Pool, and

  • The Cave Rock Monument

Let's have a closer look and find out if you would agree with me...

Brighton Beach Tidal Pool

There are various types of pools and we often see very inviting images of beautiful swimming pools.

But there is one kind of pool that I love... A tidal pool. And what attracts me to these pools, is not the leisurely lying around as you would see in the majority of photos, trying to convince you to visit certain holiday destinations...

No, it's the beautiful scenes you can capture in a photo if you are just patient enough to wait.

We have quite a few tidal pools along the coastline here on the east coast of South Africa.

I love spending time, watching some spectacular waves breaking against these pools.

Standing on the beach, watching the tide coming in with the waves hitting the tidal pool on Brighton Beach.

With the various currents in the water, you often don't even have to wait for the waves to reach the pool to see some spectacular splashes.

The majority of the waves were hitting the pool from the northern side, causing beautiful splashes against the northern corner of the pool...

But in the next photo, you can see the wave hitting the tidal pool over its entire width.

The Cave Rock Monument.

Brighton Beach has a very particular landmark which I always admire when we go there...the Cave Rock Monument. It is the sandstone formation that you can see in my first photo.

Many people aren't aware of the Cave Rock Monument.

Walking up to the northern part of the beach is where you will find this amazing sandstone formation.

To enjoy more of its beauty, let's move around to its northern side where we go down to the beach just below the Cave Rock monument.

Standing in the shadow of the rock, sheltering us against the late afternoon sun which is visible on the water in the background.

It was a peaceful experience to watch the water coming up and covering the rocks below me in a rhythmic fashion...

I'll end this post with this photo, admiring the ocean while standing on the rocks below the Cave Rock Monument.

I saw such beautiful splashes in Male, Maldives. Those are fantastic to see standing close to water.

Beautiful photograph, as usual.
