Frame in Frame Photo Quest in the Durban Area.
This is my entry for Qurators' Photo Quest, hosted by @qurator.
The theme for this week is "Frame in Frame". To learn more, visit the #qurator post for this week.
I wasn't aware of this project, until yesterday when I received an invite from @joanstewart. Thank you for the invite and for making me aware of this project.
My first photo was taken during the December holidays in December 2021.
We have a local steam-train project running in our area to
- celebrate the era of the old steam engines and
- entertain locals, holidaymakers, and even international tourists alike.
In this photo, my aim was to create a natural "frame" made by nature, while the train approaches through a man-made "frame", the bridge.
My next photo was taken during the early-morning hours. I was on my way to fetch my wife from the airport and stopped in Umhlanga Rocks to take some early morning/daybreak photos.
This is the city lights of Umhlanga Rocks, in the early-morning hours just before sunrise, framed by the frame of the Whale-Bone Pier on the Umhlanga Rocks Beach.
I share the next photo just to get more perspective on the Whale-Bone Pier.
Thank you for reading my post. I do appreciate it!
Smashing captures, love the old steam trains. Project of running this steamer is on-going with lines being replaced after floods.
Whale-bone arch on pier a Durban landmark many enjoy, another superb sunrise scene!

Thank you for your feedback and for your kind words!
Yes, I can't wait to see the steamer back in action again. Is it the same guys who are running the train project doing their repairs to the lines after the floods? Do you know?
In all honesty, I thought to myself that they would jump in and start working to get things back in working order. But I would be surprised if they get any help from the "authorities"...
Thank you for the tip! I really do appreciate it!
Steam train is privately owned supported by volunteers only, they are busy laying the tracks lost during floods did a fund raising event at Inchanga Railway Station every so often.
Next Umgeni Steam Railway for more information on their site.
That makes sense! Thanks, @joanstewart👍!
Close enough for you to enjoy to the full, little further for us...
Very true. That makes sense!
Nice photographs! I remember riding on one of those trains as a child and it was quite fun. Good luck for the competition!
Thank you for your positive feedback! I do appreciate it!
Yes, it's really fun to ride on those trains. Just a pity you don't see them that often anymore...but I suppose we have to go with the development of technology...lol.
Thank you for the good wishes about the competition. Did you enter too?
No, I haven't entered a photo competition in a long while. I should probably see about getting out of the house a little and hunting some snaps.
It's a lot of fun! I'm sure you will enjoy it👍!
