Slowing Down with 35mm Film. My counterpart to AI

Over the past months, I’ve rediscovered an old passion: shooting on 35mm film.
In a world where photography is faster than ever — driven by algorithms, presets, and increasingly by AI — going analog feels like a conscious counter-movement. Film forces me to slow down. Every frame matters. There’s no instant feedback, no endless corrections, no safety net.
What draws me to film is its honesty. You have to read the light, trust your instincts, and commit to the moment. The results aren’t perfect, and that’s exactly the point. The vintage look, the grain, and the small imperfections carry a character that can’t be generated or optimized.

I’ve been taking this camera with me everywhere — from behind-the-scenes moments on commercial shoots, to brand productions, to wandering through places like the OLMA Chilbi, where colors, movement, and chaos collide. I’ve photographed quiet details on set, people at work, and moments in between — including shoots with Wild Bowls, Smashburger, time spent on production and visits to spaces like Raum 25.
Another important aspect is cost. With film, every exposure has value. This limitation changes the way I photograph: I observe longer, think more carefully, and press the shutter with intention. Fewer images, but more meaning.
The process isn’t flawless yet — my scanning workflow is still evolving, not as clean as I’d like it to be. Dust, small inconsistencies, a learning curve. But that’s part of the journey. Just like film itself, it’s a process that rewards patience and attention.
For me, analog photography isn’t about nostalgia or rejecting digital tools. It’s about reconnecting with the craft, embracing imperfection, and finding authenticity in a time of synthetic perfection.
Slower. More intentional. More real.
