that one time when tokyo got white
that title was drama, and this was surely not the first time that it did, but it surely was the latest when tokyo got white.
i had a quick break away from the busy tokyo streets a day ago, it snowed a bit. i knew as well that it will snow today, but i was not expecting it to be this much.

it was definitely a lot colder when i got out of bed that morning, that should have been a tell tale sign. i got out of my room to prepare breakfast and then i saw all the extra whiteness outside the window. petrified, i must have stood there for a full minute appreciating the lithely falling snow. hunger finally kicked in, but found no food in sight. realizing that i had to face the snow head on, dread overcame.
at least i loved this dramatic snow cover on this bicycle just outside our door.

i loved snow long ago; that was before i discovered how difficult it is to walk on it. but just look at that snow! usually, snow does not pile in tokyo. that is how little snow the city usually get in a year. it must have snowed really early to create this pile.
but i do love the photos i took this day.

this one was taken just outside the grocery store where i bought breakfast. i admit, i have this fascination with bicycles under a blanket of snow. snow was falling more and more each minute.

with breakfast in the bag, walking back to the apartment was a lot more difficult. both my hands were now exposed: one holding the umbrella, and the other holding the bag.
this photo just captured how heavy the snow fall was. this was a cemetery by the way, and it was closed on a sunday.

and here is that same place, taking the shot from between the metal gate gaps. the snow covered leaves were so pleasing to my eyes.
i hurriedly went back inside the comforts of our warm apartment after taking this shot. my hands were freezing at this point.

the day went on comfortably until lunch time were we had to get out again. the earlier snowfall has already ended, but the snow piles were still there. this touch of white added a dramatic look to this ordinary train track.
i had fun taking pictures that day, but my hands and face were definitely freezing.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!

Looks like a lot of fun to walk around and grab those pictures. Especially if you don't get snow often. I was under the impression that part of Japan got snow in the winter every year.
