resilient ants : July 4 2026
dear weekend travelers and fellow photography enthusiasts,
our tale today is another story of resilience. yes, you heard it right although this traveler is still unsure how to tie the story up. allow me to start with the basics beginning with the train ride.

here seated but now on the opposite row, this traveler once again took out the phone and started snapping. it was quite unfortunate that the view on this side was mostly blocked by long fences. here were the notable once taken that day.
starting with this monorail view above ground, i must have gasped when i frantically took my phone out and finally took a decent picture with the city as backcloth.

here are a few more pictures of the city as we passed by. ant-like in concrete jungles, do you see how small the city folks appear in the picture? and like little ants, we were working like crazy even on a saturday.

for this lunch, these ants were fed with a tuna sashimi box: a very fresh box of fish. desserts came after with a cup of cafe latte.
all of these came into fruition because our friendly ant j finally came out of the hospital after a surgery. i could not help but be proud of how he handled all of these things. i am pretty sure it must have been heart breaking but he chose to look at the positive side, this surgery will bring him peace. this surgery will eventually free him from the constant shackles of worrying. this shoulder is the first step to recovery. all of these we talked over lunch and the coffee rendezvous.
and did i mention that @revlat35 was also with us in this occasion?

on to dinner time where we found out that another ant r was also having a difficult time. some allergies have been plaguing her last week and the news of a loss of a loved one was a sharp dagger that morning. of course this traveler was sad for her loss but i could not be more appreciative of how well she handled the news. no matter how many troubles may come, life moves on like a train continuing to run after every train station stop.

dinner was at the nearest izakaya, a drinking place. it may be a drinking place but these ants were there for the food. chicken wings and this spicy yakisoba noodles was the best seller for the night.
we could have ended the night back at our respective "anthills" by train, but i insisted that we walk at least until the next train stop. my stomach cannot handle the long minutes of sitting anymore, i was that full. full as i may be, we may still have gone for a round of dessert but luckily found none.

here were some of the scenes from this final nightwalk.

it was an unfamiliar place but no route could not be walked when your friendly google maps is around. this ant was surprised by this big factory of egg products. those wall paintings could not hide what they were doing inside.
a few minutes more and we reached the station. that was a good 50 minute walk; glad the rain did not decide to join the journey.
now, how do this ant tie the resilience topic? i just find it difficult to do so. but difficult as it may be, here is my pitch. resilience, according to the american psychological association is
the ability to adapt positively to adversity, trauma, or significant stress. Often described as the capacity to "bounce back" from difficult experiences, it empowers individuals and systems to navigate challenges and maintain well-being. source
and that is exactly what i observed both ant j and ant r: such strong ants surviving the ravishing storm.
let me end at that note before i go astray any further. allow me to keep the little straws i desperately grasped while composing this article.
as always, AMPING KANUNAY!
