beauty of the mundane : June 29 2025
there were many interesting shots i got today but i loved this one because of the drama. the shrine torii gate with that circular ring matched the empty leafless space up in the sky. it somehow looked like a direct link to a gate in the sky, and a religious or even a devotee would probably interpret it like that as well. this was of suwa shrine (諏方神社).
this was shot later that night, but allow me to begin my blog that noon.
it was a sunny day and umbrellas would really help if you are a vampire like me. oops, i am a nightwalker and not a dazzling vampire, different creatures. kidding aside, i loved how this picture of the underside of the train tracks turned out, a train above and below. i found this sight very fascinating. i don't know but there must be something with large construction and boys; i could still remember the meme i saw of how boys just stared at some huge machinery.
it really was hot. if it weren't for a lunch out then i would have stayed indoors. but it was a sunday, and i still believe that it would be better to eat quality food on a sunday. we had mapo tofu at a newly discovered restaurant. it was just fine, not that great. but what kind of flavor do you expect to taste from a mapo tofu? it is a spicy tofu and ground pork dish, nothing revolutionary taste in it. but i can't cook the dish, though.
night fell and just look at these shots. at the perfect place and time, even mundane things would look great. yellow or gold really looks good against the blue sky. these were just normal buildings, apartment complexes look boring in the daytime. but they just look extra beautiful at night.
the plan was to have a nightwalk on a mix of familiar and unfamiliar routes. the area before this was definitely unfamiliar, and it was just under my nose. as this train was zooming past me, i quickly grabbed my phone and snapped some photos. i was a blogger after all, and blogging has become my way of sharing what i saw.
my feet led me to this familiar path, just up this path was a shrine, that one of the first picture. but what i saw as i was walking up these stairs was quite shocking, i saw a small creature. it really looked like a raccoon or something like that. the tail was too thick to be that of a cat. but looking back, do we even have raccoons in tokyo? i really don't know. it could be a wild animal but it could also be a fat tailed cat.
further that path, i found these quite pretty. it was not even of a great architecture but i loved it. there is beauty in the usual, there is beauty in the common, i always believe in that. i loved how balanced that first picture was, somehow it portrayed peaceful living. the second was just reminded me of a 3d dyi mini art decors. this could easily be one of the inspirations.
and look how time flew, or plants grew? i once posted a photo of this pond, patches of mirror like waters were still visible then. you can check the 2nd to the last image of the post below.

and now about a month after, vegetation has fully invaded. lily leaves have grown so big and abundant. another month and flowers will probably bloom then.
so sorry, but this nightwalker blogger has truly embraced the joys of sharing a portion of his normal everyday life. hope you had fun with me.
