Trying Hard to Do Macro on the Red Dragonfly

Authored by @iTravelRox

Hi everyone! This is my first entry for Amazing Nature. I found a red dragonfly outside of the house and thought I could take some photos. This is best to have a macro lens which I never had.

After taking a bath, I saw this red dragonfly in our yard. It's a mix of macro settings and manual shots. I used Adobe Lightroom to edit and adjust the brightness.

Two of my best shots, I think

As a newbie in photography, for me, these two shots were my best. Originally, these photos were underexposed. I just went to Adobe Lightroom to adjust the brightness. And voila! I am surprised by the outcome. I got a detailed look at the red dragonfly.

Not-so-good shots

I was using my 18-55 mm kit lens so I wasn't lucky on taking nice photos on insects.

Out of focus on the eyes

The focus was more on the wings which was not the intention.

Under the shadow.

I liked this more because the eyes were a little bit focused.

Hehe. Thanks. I'm surprised by how clear to see the dragonfly on a camera. Never seen how detailed it is.

Yes it was neat to see it's eyes. I'll have to try that sometime with a friendly insect. Not sure how it will turn out with my smart phone though.

If you have a nice phone like SAmsung Galaxy and iPhone, the latest models, you can get some nice shots. I just can't afford a new smartphone right now. Hehe!

I hear that I got kind of a middle of the pack phone. Motorola One 5G UW Ace. I don't have much editing tools either. Just the freebies tools I use.

Try to check if your phone can do macro shots. I am not familiar with Motorla.

Just found macro option, hehe. But I can't blow up while taking though. Can after editing. Does that sound right?
