Monomad Challenge: Random People in Colon Street, Cebu City

Hi, Monomads and Black and White photographers! This is my entry for the #monomad challenge.

Back in 2013, I joined a photo walk in Cebu City where the concept was to use your wide lens camera or a kit lens. My Nikon kit lens is 18-55mm. This photo walk lets us admire what our kit lens or wide lens can capture while on the streets. For most of my shots, 18mm was used.

I have several colored photos for this event but I chose to convert these photos into black and white.

Random people on the streets

The bottled water vendor - He was selling bottled water near the Cathedral church.

The balloons at Sto. Niño Church. There were a lot of people inside the church and I took the chance to take a snapshot of the kid who wanted a balloon.

The girl was selling keychains as a souvenir for tourists. When we got out of the church, a lot of vendors selling souvenirs.

At the Carbon Market, taking random photos of the street. You can see several electrical wires, always visible. No choice but to include the wires.

A homeless woman, she looked like a badass when she posed in front of the camera.

The happy kids, despite poverty, showed their smiles. Although the younger kid was curious about the camera, at first.

I was happy that when I got a new camera, several photo enthusiasts created events for aspiring photographers in Cebu. It was fun to get around Cebu with fellow photographers.

I learned to appreciate using my 18-55 mm lens to take photos of people. But I am not sure if I can do this in Paris because people don't want their photos taken by strangers.

Hoping to return to this kind of hobby in my next travels.
