One Hiver mentioned markets in London when commenting on my earlier post. It brought back memories of my market-visiting experience there. So for today's Wednesdaywalk, let's go to the lovely Apple Market and some other spots in Covent Garden.

Covent Garden is a vibrant and historic district located in London's West End. It is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, theatres, and cultural attractions. One of the main attractions here is the Apple Market, which is located in its central square.

It has a long history and by the late 17th century, it was the largest market in London for selling fruit and vegetables. Today, it remains a bustling hub of activity and a popular spot for visitors to pick up interesting souvenirs.

This covered market boasts over 30 stalls selling a wide range of goods, including handmade crafts, souvenirs, jewelry, and vintage clothing. I loved browsing the rich choices of merchandise and eventually purchased some English rose tea and a pair of handmade earrings.

In addition to visiting the stands and shops, I enjoyed looking at the architecture. The unique blend of historical and modern design elements looks quite appealing to me. The wrought-iron and glass roof was added in the twentieth century and provides natural light to the market stalls below. The roof is supported by ornate cast-iron columns, a hallmark of Victorian architecture.

Aside from the Apple Market, Covent Garden also has a number of other attractions, such as the Royal Opera House and the London Transport Museum. I haven't gone inside of these two yet and have only taken pictures from the outside. There are also numerous restaurants and cafes in the area, serving up a range of international cuisines like the popular Taiwan restaurant Din Tai Fung.

Love this post and walk, I did visit Covent gardens, but I dont think I ever made it to the apple market which I now regret it looks so cool

Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
