Wandering in Kotor, the Cat Town in Montenegro 🐱 | 在黑山猫城走街串巷

The news that Do Kwon was detained in Montenegro makes me go back to my time there. I was not a fugitive then, but a solo traveler. :) So, now I'm sharing some experiences in Kotor, a coastal gem in the country.

Kotor is a picturesque town nestled between the majestic mountains and the sparkling blue waters of the Adriatic Sea. Its quaint old town has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The charming old streets were lined with well-preserved medieval and Renaissance architecture. On the lines and balconies, laundry was fluttering in the breeze.

When I was wandering through its narrow lanes and hidden corners, I saw cats almost everywhere, more than humans in fact, perhaps because I visited during the off-season. There was even a cat museum, but I didn't go in because it was closed at the time.

Kotor's seaside location and mild Mediterranean climate make it an appealing habitat for cats. The hostel owner told me that the cats were used to control the rodent population in the town's streets and alleyways. Over time, they became an important part of the community and were even considered good luck by some locals. In town, you can buy a variety of cat-themed souvenirs. I got a fridge magnet with a whimsical cat drawing on it. :)

这两天，连各大主流媒体都争相报道Do Kwon在黑山被捕，让我想起多年前在那里的独自旅行。今天就来分享一些在海滨小城Kotor游览的经历。

科托尔依山傍海，风景优美，历史悠久的老城区被联合国列为世界文化遗产。在沧桑的古城里走街串巷，随处可见猫星人🐱。可能因为是淡季，我看到的猫比人还要多，感觉它们更像是这里的主人。还有专门的猫博物馆，可惜那两天都关着门，我就没有进去看。

听旅馆主人说，这里几百年来一直住着不少猫，因为地处亚德里亚海岸，鱼类丰富，温和的地中海气候也有利于猫科动物的繁殖。城镇狭窄的街巷中曾经老鼠满窜，大量猫星人的存在有效地解决了困扰居民的鼠患。随着时间的推移，猫民们也逐渐成为当地社区的一份子，很多当地人认为它们会带来好运。

街巷的小店里也售卖各种各样猫主题的伴手礼，我还买了个手绘猫图案的冰箱贴带回去。因为喜欢travel light，冰箱贴、明信片和耳环之类轻便的小物就成了我旅途中最常见的纪念品。
