Visiting Tossa de Mar - Fortified Medieval Town | 托萨德玛古城

Following on from my previous post about Tossa de Mar's seascape, today I will show you its fortified medieval town.

Dating back to the 14th century, the walled Vila Vella is the only fortified medieval town that still stands on the Catalan coast. The original perimeter with battlemented stone walls, four turrets, and three cylindrical towers with parapets are all well preserved. Since 1931, the site has been designated a national historic monument in Spain.

Winter was off-season, so the old town was quiet and peaceful. Even though many shops and restaurants were closed, I enjoyed strolling through the Vila Vella and getting lost in its narrow cobblestoned streets.

Green plants grew up the honey-toned stone walls, and ancient structures ran alongside the rocky crags. The hill was dotted with charming shops and residences, some of which were painted in vibrant colours. Oftentimes, after a turn, the beautiful blue sea would appear at the end of the lane. It's a truly enchanting place.

这座城建于14世纪，是加泰罗尼亚海岸上仅存的一座筑有围墙堡垒的中世纪老城。周边有城垛的石墙、四个炮塔和三个带护墙的圆柱形塔楼都保存完好。1931年，这处遗址就被定为西班牙国家历史古迹。

淡季的冬天，多数小店和餐馆都不开门，游人稀少，也因此显得格外安静祥和。在暖暖的阳光下，沿着窄窄的石头路漫步非常舒服惬意。

古老的房子沿着峭壁起伏在山间，花花草草簇拥着蜜色的石墙。不经意的一个角落里，常常会看到色彩鲜艳的门窗。走着走着，某条小路的尽头，蔚蓝的地中海蓦然出现在远方。
