Strolling around Huerto del Cura in Elche’s Historic Palm Grove |

I'm in Elche again, and let's continue exploring Huerto del Cura, the magical botanical garden in the town's historic palm grove.
Last year, I showed you a beautiful blue peacock wandering in the garden as my entry to Qurator's Wonderland photo quest. This time, we will see the rest of this vast wonderland.
In 1943, Huerto del Cura was designated as a National Artistic Garden. The garden's main attraction are the palm trees. There are various palms from different parts of the world with name tags in front. Among them, the Imperial Palm is the crown jewel. It's over 180 years old, and it has been held up by braces. There is a room dedicated to it, complete with descriptions and old pictures.
Palm trees are also used in the structure and decoration of the main house. The palm trunks serve as columns to support the terrace, and the palm tree-trunk joists on the roof hold the space between the joists and the vault. The Phoenix Hall's entrance door and side windows are lined with date palm tree wood as well.
I also liked how they designed the palm pattern in the iron gates and fences, which looks stylish and fits the garden's theme. The restored main house here is one of Elche's Listed Protected Buildings.
Aside from the palm trees, there are other plants and flowers, a succulent rock garden, and several lovely ponds. I also encountered two more peacocks, a white one and a greyish peahen. Overall, this is an amazing oasis that I highly recommend visiting if you come to Elche.:)
Have you ever seen a palm tree with a trunk like this? This one is called El Tornillo (The Screw), and it stands in the palm grove outside of the garden.
