In my last post, we looked at some wild seascapes at the Lands End of San Francisco, and for the Wednesdaywalk today, let's see what people are doing here to enjoy themselves.

Since it's by the sea with a sandy beach, people are chillaxing here... I am not sure if I should say sunbathing or windbathing, or perhaps both.:) In the distance, the mist and clouds have been mingling. The vibrant buildings lining the shore are looking so lovely, aren't they?

This wooden totem by the beach is from the native American tribe Yelamu Ohlone. Before Spanish settlement began in 1776, the tribal people lived here in the San Francisco Bay Area in Northern California.

Giant Camera is a fun camera obscura perched on the headland above the cliffs. It can project an image of the surroundings onto a surface using only existing sunlight, according to a design by Leonardo da Vinci.

The building's internal workings have remained unchanged since 1946, and the exterior was altered in 1957 to resemble a large camera, with a metal hood in the cupola at the top.

The top hood slowly rotates, completing a full revolution in about 6 minutes and providing a 360° view around the building. What a clever design, right? Since 2001, this ingenious engineering device has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

The Cliff House in this photo is the third iteration of the neo-classical style restaurant that was rebuilt in 1909. The first Cliff House on the same site was built in 1863, and the second, a seven-story Victorian chateau, was built in 1896. It's fascinating to learn about the Cliff House's changing backgrounds and styles throughout its history.

The restaurants and bars inside were still open when I visited in 2014, but they were closed later due to the covid-19 pandemic and a delayed long-term lease.

Now, let's walk further down to the ruins of the Sutro Baths.

The large concrete foundation you see here is the ruins of the Sutro Baths, a public swimming pool complex built by the former mayor Adolph Sutro.

The Sutro Baths were opened to the public as the largest indoor swimming pool in the world in 1896. However, 70 years later, it was burned down in the process of being demolished.

The first 2 images below are from Wikipedia, so you can see the impressive Sutro Baths and its interior in around 1896. Another lone witness to the city's historical transformations.

Besides wandering around the ruins or running like the boy in red, you can work out, read, kiss, explore the caves, and walk on the trails...

And you can tell how windy it usually is by looking at the trees:

Or, like me and this man below, stroll around and take photos of this beautiful place:

Okay, my walk today comes to an end; I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. If you are here, what will you do?
