Roads full of history / Caminos lleno de historia. [Esp-Ing]

Greetings, dear fellow members of this strong and active community. I hope you are doing well today, and that tomorrow will be much better.

Today I want to share with you a walk I took through the historic center of Valencia, in the state of Carabobo, Venezuela. I walked through several streets of this beautiful and ancient place, with the colonial architecture of the houses that are still preserved. Many of these houses were built in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, and have incredible designs.

The most curious thing is that they are built with materials such as mud or clay, wood, stone and other materials that were used at that time, I was so impressed by their structure that I was curious to know more, so I went to Google to learn more about their history and how they have evolved over the years.

The more I walked, I noticed that some houses have been remodeled and repaired, but others are abandoned and quite deteriorated, I can even peek into some ruins and even fear I felt, the more I advanced, the more I wondered how would be the life of the people who lived there so many years ago. The truth is that I saw some houses in ruins, but there are also many that have changed over the years.

According to what I investigated for the curiosity that this caused me, many of these houses were built around the year 1600. And with the passing of time, about 200 years later, began to lose its original structure because it is Carabobo State, was declared as the industrial zone of the country, so many houses were demolished to build buildings and shopping centers that gave another structure to the center of Valencia in a more commercial image.

Today, luckily there are still several of those old houses, located in narrow streets, full of history and I could say great mysteries, the truth is that they are true architectural gems that deserve to be restored so that this valuable legacy of our city is not lost.

After walking through these streets full of history, I walked to the most commercial part, where you can hardly see these colonial structures anymore, although there are still a few left, they are increasingly replaced by modern concrete buildings and new architectural styles.

The truth is that I walked a long way, and at the same time, I enjoyed and learned with so much living history that is still felt and breathed within those ancient walls.

Hoy quiero compartir con ustedes una caminata que hice por el casco histórico del centro de Valencia, en el estado Carabobo, Venezuela. Recorrí varias calles de este hermoso y antiguo lugar, con la arquitectura colonial de las viviendas que aún se conservan. Muchas de estas casas fueron fabricadas de los siglos XVIII y XIX, y tienen unos diseños increíbles.

Lo más curioso es que están construidas con materiales como barro o arcilla, madera, piedra y otros materiales que se usaban en aquella época, me impresionó tanto su estructura que me dio curiosidad por saber más, así que me fui a Google a conocer más de su historia y de cómo han ido evolucionando con el pasar de los años.

Mientras más caminaba, noté que algunas casas han sido remodeladas y reparadas, pero otras están abandonadas y bastante deterioradas, hasta puede asomarme en algunas ruinas y hasta miedo sentí, cuanto más avanzaba, más me preguntaba cómo sería la vida de las personas que vivieron allí hace tantos años. Lo cierto es que, vi algunas viviendas en ruinas, pero también hay muchas que han cambiado con el pasar de los años.

Según lo que investigué por la curiosidad que esto me causo, muchas de estas casas fueron construidas alrededor del año 1600. Y con el pasar del tiempo, aproximadamente unos 200 años después, comenzo a perder su estructura original debido a que es Estado Carabobo, fue declarado como la zona industrial del país, por lo que muchas casas fueron derrumbadas para construir edificios y centros comerciales que dieron otra estructura al centro de Valencia en una imagen más comercial.

Hoy en día, por suerte todavía quedan varias de esas viviendas antiguas, ubicadas en calles angostas, llenas de historia y podría decir que grandes misterios, lo cierto es que son verdaderas joyas arquitectónicas que merecen ser restauradas para que no se pierda ese legado tan valioso de nuestra ciudad.

Después de recorrer esas calles llenas de historia, camine hasta la parte más comercial, donde ya casi no se ven estas estructuras coloniales, aunque todavía quedan algunas pocas, cada vez son más reemplazadas por edificios modernos de concreto y nuevos estilos arquitectónicos.

Lo cierto es que caminé un buen trecho, y al mismo tiempo, disfruté y aprendí con tanta historia viva que todavía se siente y respira, entre esas paredes antiguas.
