Hello everyone
How are you today ? I hope and pray, we are all always given health and also happiness in living this life. I am very happy, after waiting and waiting for so long to finally be given the time and opportunity again to participate and contribute to Pinmapple, The Hive Travel Community. One of the most appropriate communities to share stories about our traveling experiences. So, you don't need to linger anymore, keep watching my post this time.

If you don't know, I born and live in Indonesia. As one country, Indonesia consists of hundreds or maybe thousands of islands from big islands to small islands and also hundreds of different cultures and traditions in each island or region. One of the advantages of an archipelagoc country is that it have a long coastline. So, from the tip of Aceh - Sumatra Island to Marauke - Papua Island, we will see lots of beaches that have beautiful views and are like heaven. One of the beautiful and beautiful beaches, is Salah Namo Beach.

Some time ago, I go to Salahnama Island, one of the small islands with beautiful beaches in North Sumatra, Sumatra Island - Indonesia. I went with a travel tour group whose information I found on Instagram. Initially, I planned to go alone using a private car with my wife, but seeing that access to information about traveling there was limited. We decided to travel safely with a tour group.

I departed from Medan City, around 12 pm with a minibus with a capacity of 16 people. Administratively, Salahnamo Island is one of the islands that is still in Batubara Regency - North Sumatra. To get there, we need about 3.5 hours to travel there. First, we will pass by land to get to Tanjung Tiram Harbor in Bogak Village, Tanjung Tiram Regency – Batu Bara Regency, North Sumatra.

We arrived at the port of Tanjung Tiram around five in the morning. Next, we will continue our journey for about one hour around six in the morning by using a motorized boat with a capacity of 20 people. This trip is very exciting, but also very scary for people who are afraid of extreme water trips like this.

Salahnamo Island - Salahnama Beach

Talking about Salahnamo Island, I got a unique story about the origin of the island's name from one of the residents, when I was having breakfast at Tanjung Tiram harbor. For information, Salahnamo means "Wrong Name", why is it like that? According to the resident, initially fishermen and local residents gave the name of this island the name "pulo pepek". Pepek is a traditional language or slang language from vagina. However, as tourists began to come, residents felt the name was embarrassing and finally started calling the island "Salahnamo".

We were very lucky, when we arrive at the island and the beach, the weather was very sunny. One thing I like when I come to Salahnama island, I feel the beach on this island is the quietest among all the beaches in North Sumatra Province. For sure, access to this beach also requires more effort than other places. Not all, people can come here, or have the courage to cross the island with a motorized wooden boat.

I felt like I was entering a private beach. You can see the blue sea, beautiful and soft white sand beaches. Besides that, I really like the view of the large red rocks that are naturally arranged around the shoreline. Moreover, on Salah Namo Island there are still trees and forests that are still well preserved, thus creating a very beautiful and natural landscape.

I got lots of great photos when I arrived at the harbor from this island. I tried to capture the picture well, and it's very easy because the island is not too crowded with people.

There are many activities that we can do on this beach, some of the visitors in our group go to snorkel to see coral reefs or swim in sea water. Some of them, like me, go sit on the side of the photo, take beautiful beach photos and enjoy the cool beach breeze. Relax in this place, like I'm in heaven.

Public and tourist facilities on Salahnamo Island have also received attention and renewal from the Batubara Regency government. The local government even makes footpaths for tourists, so it is comfortable to explore this small island. One of them, the road to get to the top of this island.

We can climb to the top of this island by using the stairs, here we can look around this island to get the best view of the area from Salah Namo Island.

We spent time on this island until late afternoon. We departed from Salahnama Island at five o'clock in the afternoon. According to our ship's captain, if we are lucky, we will see dolphins in the sea on the way to port. Unfortunately, when we got home we were not lucky to see him.

However, I saw a more interesting sight. I see that there are still many local fishermen with makeshift fishing equipment who are looking for fish in this sea. This indicates that the cleanliness and naturalness of this marine area is still maintained.

The captain of my ship also said that the people left at sea should never have a shortage of food because fish are always available and abundant from the sea. However, gambling and drugs make many villagers lazy and stupid so their village becomes poor and slum. That's why, if we come to the port of Tanjung Tiram without a group or tour guide, we feel intimidated by the vibes from that village.

I feel, if only the government could provide a solution about this. Allowing people to come freely to Salahnama Island without having to fear criminality. I think this beach will be a favorite destination for many people. That's all my story this time, see you next time.

Visiting this island would be my dream place, I like how it shape. Alot happened during the trip and there the business doesn't seem so busy compare to the sea province in Cambodia. So that I am sure the environment is clean enough without much trash.

Is it comfortable traveling with the group? I saw plenty open trip but still hesitant because the schedule is often tight. But they're pretty affordable haha :D. Sumatra is on my list lately.. it's just why is the ticket more expensive flying over there than to KL :')

Hello @macchiata thank you for stopping by
To be honest, this is also my first experience going on a group trip, usually I always go alone or with people I know. At first, I thought it would be awkward but everyone was busy with their own business and it turned out okay too. In addition, I was really worried about the safety of my car at the port, in case I came to the island alone.

Just like you, we in Sumatra also experience the same problem if we want to go on vacation to Java or Bali. try to imagine, with only IDR 500K, you can go back and forth to Penang or KL.

If you have a lot of time for vacation and adventure, try visiting Sumatra via the inter-provincial bus, it's very fun and exciting.
