Explore The Forest Conservation - Tangkahan

IMG_9352.jpeg

Hello everyone,
How are you all? I hope you are well, healthy and happy. Remembering that heavy rain has really shocked the city of Medan today, followed by flooding in several areas and that is tormenting us in the Medan city area. As a result, many people had to evacuate temporarily because their houses were submerged by water, and there were also victims who died as a result of the flood this time.

It's really unfortunate, the flood this time came from the highlands, considering that this area is close to Bukit Barisan and Tangkahan where the river flow falls into almost every river in the city of Medan, especially the area where I live. It seems that many people are neglectful of their sensitivity to the environment and there are also individuals who use forests to extract trees and wood, without reforestation afterwards.

Remembering the flood this time, I opened several image files that I saved on my laptop. I saved it last July, because I took my wife and her friends to explore Tangkahan, which is one of the tourist destinations, especially for local tourists and foreign tourists who like nature. Tangkahan is one of the forests that has a river with a high water flow, many people go rafting and play with elephants there. Including one of the conservation forests, especially Sumatran elephants.

It was July, the right time to do rafting because the weather was very good for doing this activity, suitable for those who like adventure. After booking a trip from one of the travel agents who offered good prices, the service was very friendly even though it always made it difficult for us to explore Tangkahan.

Starting from the start of our journey from Medan to Tangkahan for a 2 hour journey, we arrived at the CRU (Conservation Response Unit), the gathering place for all the teams who would do a short exploration of Tangkahan. Look at the trees here, there are lots of them and they are very tall. Here we started to walk to the river to ride Ban Angin as a vehicle for rafting.

Air tires are made of thick rubber, tied with strong ropes for the team to wear and are very safe, even though they seem simple, we enjoyed the trip on this river happily and safely. Likewise with our tour guide who explained several interesting stories about this extraordinary Tangkahan. Indeed, many foreign tourists are very happy to travel here.

We passed a place where the elephants are looked after very well, they are growing well and the population is increasing. There seemed to be one walking and it was a very tiny elephant calf. It seemed to be wagging its tail after taking water from the river to drink.

You can see that this river has 2 different streams, with different water, it is said that it comes from the Sei Bahorok river and will merge into one in this stream. maybe it was raining at Sei Bahorok at the top of the mountain so the water was so dirty.

Next, the team and I walked to a small waterfall, here you can play in the water as much as you like, the water is clean and could be said to be a spring. Many people use this waterfall to relax the body, the water that flows so fast when it hits the back feels like a massage that can provide relief.

After that we continued eating which had been prepared by the tour guide, exactly at 01.00 pm, with food that was simple but tasted very good, because eating over flowing water, made the sensation even more different from the usual lunch. Our dining area was also decorated with some striking leaves and flowers, so it was customary to welcome tour guests.

You can see that this place has a good attraction, so many foreign tourists like to come here. In fact, Tangkahan is very large, there are several closed locations which are used for nature, flora and fauna conservation. There are several times that tourists can visit, but it is very difficult because the price is also very expensive.

It is called The Real Hidden Paradise because it is far from residential areas and is also where elephants are kept. I like people who love nature very well, and are even willing to sacrifice time and energy to do things like that. Hopefully, next time I can visit Tangkahan again.
