Caracas en una ciudad que se ha caracterizado por su empeño en estar a la vanguardia de la arquitectura moderna, esto debido a múltiples factores, el primero tiene que ver con su condición de capital, lo cual atrae a estas tierras a grandes compañías nacionales e internacionales, así como a muchas instituciones gubernamentales que se encargan de controlar el poder político, económico y social de la nación, pero también las condiciones geográficas de Caracas deben ser tomadas muy en cuenta, ya que se trata de un valle muy estrecho en donde los espacios planos suelen escasear y por lo tanto la necesidad de construir edificios cada vez más altos es una realidad indiscutible, ya que esta se convierte en la única forma de generar espacios suficientes para cubrir las necesidades de la población.

El concreto es el elemento más abundante dentro de la ciudad de Caracas, su rigidez, flexibilidad y solidez le han permitido ser el aliado principal de la arquitectura venezolana, aunque con el pasar del tiempo elementos como el acero han ganado algo de terreno, pero aún no constituyen el grueso de las nuevas construcciones. Durante los años 50, 60 y 70 los estilos cubista, brutalista y Art déco se posicionaron al frente de muchos trabajos realizados en la ciudad, pero con el pasar de los años y la llegada del nuevo milenio las imponentes fachadas de cristal, el uso de colores, ladrillos y diseños más atrevidos fueron ganando terreno a lo largo y ancho de avenidas, plazas y calles, generando Sí una combinación arquitectónica muy interesante.

The city of Caracas and its inhabitants are accustomed to constant changes, they like to discover new constructions, admire new techniques and enjoy having a city whose urban profile is always updated, since this generates the illusion that it is walking in the direction of progress, perhaps that thought is nothing more than a utopia, but it is strong enough to maintain the hope that a better future is yet to come.

La ciudad de Caracas y sus habitantes están acostumbrados a los constantes cambios, les gusta descubrir nuevas construcciones, admiran las nuevas técnicas y disfrutan de contar con una ciudad cuyo perfil urbano se mantenga siempre actualizado, ya que esto genera la ilusión de que se camina en dirección al progreso, tal vez ese pensamiento no es más que una utopía, pero es lo suficientemente fuerte como para mantener la esperanza en que un futuro mejor está por venir.
