Monochromatic City
A time when black and white was the dominant force in the art of photography; it was an era when the world moved at a different pace, when society was clearly divided by social class, and when not everyone had the opportunity to have their image preserved for posterity. During this era, landscape and urban photography certainly existed, but it always took a back seat to the craze for portraits and mementos.

Ciudad Monocromática
Un tiempo en donde el blanco y negro era el factor dominante en el arte de la fotografía; se trataba de una época en donde el mundo giraba a una velocidad distinta, en donde la sociedad estaba claramente dividida por clases sociales y en donde no todos tenían la oportunidad de que su imagen perdurara en el tiempo. Para esta época, la fotografía paisajística y urbana, por supuesto que existía, pero siempre se encontraría por detrás del furor de los retratos y el recuerdo.
Yet despite this, there are photographic records that immortalized cities and captured images of a reality that will never return, which lends the black-and-white technique a veil of nostalgia rather than antiquity. Little by little, with the passage of time and the development of new technologies, full-color photographs have invaded our world; in fact, the images we capture today often do not reflect the reality of the scene, since retouching done with artificial intelligence, tools integrated into our digital devices, and the automation of the entire shooting system are tools that deliver extraordinary results, often surpassing the photographer and generating incredible images.
Pero a pesar de ello, existen registros de fotografías que inmortalizaron ciudades y capturaron imágenes de una realidad que jamás volverá, lo cual le coloca a la técnica del blanco y negro un velo de nostalgia que de antigüedad. Poco a poco con el avance del tiempo y el desarrollo de las nuevas tecnologías, las fotografías a full color han invadido nuestro mundo, de hecho las imágenes que capturamos hoy en día en muchos casos no demuestran la realidad de la escena, puesto que retoques hechos con Inteligencia artificial, herramientas integradas en nuestro equipos digitales y la automatización de todo el sistema de disparo son herramientas que brindan resultados extraordinarios, muchas veces superando al operario y generando imágenes increíbles.
It might seem as though black-and-white photography has been left behind, but the truth is that this technique is very much alive, with an active community dedicated to it all over the world. We are an undeniable part of that monochromatic movement that does not seek to reminisce about past glories or get stuck in memories of the past, but rather looks forward, always striving to capture the most interesting shot, the most perfect frame, and the most evident reality.
De esta forma el blanco y negro parecía haberse quedado atrás, pero la verdad es que esta es una técnica que se mantiene viva y sobre la cual existe una comunidad que se mantiene activa alrededor del mundo. Somos nosotros una parte indiscutible de ese movimiento monocromático que no busca rememorar viejas glorias, ni atorarse en recuerdos del pasado, sino que mira hacia adelante, siempre intentando generar la captura más interesante, el encuadre más perfecto y la realidad más evidente.
This is how I continue to photograph urban spaces within the city of Caracas, a dynamic and thriving metropolis that has proven that, whatever the circumstances, there is always a resilient spirit striving to move toward the future. This spirit deeply shapes the faces and the stride of every person in this society, creating a truly incredible environment where the art of photography becomes a rewarding and beautiful activity.
Es así como sigo fotografiando espacios urbanos dentro de la ciudad de Caracas, una urbe dinámica y pujante, la cual ha demostrado que, sean cuales sean las circunstancias, siempre existe un espíritu resiliente que busca avanzar hacia el futuro, lo cual marca profundamente los rostros y el andar de cada persona de esta sociedad, generando así un entorno realmente increíble, en donde el arte de la fotografía se vuelve una actividad gratificante y linda.
