A Sunflower

This is a true example of what street art can achieve. As I was walking down one of the streets in Tanaguarena, in La Guaira state, I noticed something very peculiar: there are many perimeter walls here that stretch for meters and meters, but most of them are completely gray and empty, where the concrete has weathered over time, creating spaces that clash a bit with what a modern city should be. This is why many places look cold and perhaps a bit neglected, but this is the result of a creative vision that is still in its infancy in this area, yet one that, to tell the truth, has great potential to expand on a grand scale.

Un Girasol

Este es un verdadero ejemplo de lo que puede lograr el arte callejero. Mientras caminaba por una de las calles de Tanaguarena en el estado La Guaira, me di cuenta de algo muy peculiar: acá existen muchos muros perimetrales que abarcan metros y metros, pero en su mayoría se trata de paredones totalmente grises y vacíos, en donde el concreto se ha mezclado con el tiempo, generando espacios que desentonan un poco con lo que debería ser una ciudad moderna. Es así como muchos lugares se ven fríos y quizás un poco abandonados, pero esto es el resultado de una visión creativa que en esta zona aún es incipiente, pero que a decir verdad cuenta con un gran potencial para expandirse a lo grande.

But little by little, the exceptions begin to shine with their own light, and that is how we come across this truly majestic composition, where the depth of the blue and the joy of the yellow tones radiate complete happiness, breaking the monotony of the concrete and gifting us a space that translates into a ray of light in the midst of a dark space. Two names appear in the corners of the mural; I don’t know if either of them has anything to do with the artist behind this magnificent work, but beyond individual contributions or collective effort, I must acknowledge that this is an extraordinary piece, which should serve as an example for filling miles and miles of walls—which currently lack a personal touch—with color and hope.

Pero de a poco las excepciones comienzan a brillar con luz propia y es así como nos encontramos con esta composición realmente majestuosa, en donde la profundidad del azul y la alegría de los tonos amarillos nos irradian una felicidad plena, logrando romper con la monotonía del concreto y regalándonos un espacio que se traduce en un rayo de luz en medio de un espacio oscuro. En las esquinas del mural aparecen dos nombres; desconozco si alguno de ellos tiene que ver con el artista detrás de esta magnífica obra, pero más allá de las individualidades o del trabajo colectivo, debo reconocer que se trata de un trabajo extraordinario, el cual debería servir de ejemplo para así poder llenar de color y esperanzas kilómetros y kilómetros de paredes que hoy en día no cuentan con una personalidad propia.
