The Liberator

To speak of Bolívar is to refer to a visionary thinker, capable of transcending his historical moment and with the gallantry necessary to defeat the greatest of empires. The Liberator is undoubtedly the undisputed example of a man who was born to be great; his personality is a reflection of a people who today, more than 200 years later, continue to move forward despite difficulties, always with their heads held high and with unstoppable energy, seeking at all times to preserve their nation's independence, self-determination, and indisputable and sovereign rights.

Hablar de Bolívar es hacer referencia a un pensamiento visionario, capaz de trascender a su momento histórico y con la gallardía necesaria para vencer al más grande de los imperios. El Libertador es sin duda alguna el ejemplo indiscutible de un hombre que nació para ser grande; su personalidad es el reflejo de un pueblo que hoy, más de 200 años después, sigue avanzando a pesar de las dificultades, siempre con la frente en alto y con una energía indetenible, buscando en todo momento preservar la independencia de su nación, su autodeterminación y el derecho indiscutible y soberano.

For Venezuelans, Simón Bolívar is one of the greatest heroes that could ever exist; for this reason, it is common to see his face in squares, murals, and public institutions; it is a gaze that reflects pride, respect, and admiration. Thus, in the heart of 23 de Enero, a popular neighborhood located west of the city of Caracas, we find this large-scale piece, whose artist remains anonymous, but whose work stands out for its excellent strokes, good choice of colors, and incredible realism. Although today there are some signs of deterioration, there is no doubt that this is an impeccable work, which seeks to exalt national values and at the same time reveals a controversial but very serene face, where the Liberator is filled with glory as he gazes into infinity at the greatness of his legacy.

Para el venezolano, Simón Bolívar es un héroe de los más grandes que puedan existir; por esta razón es común ver su rostro en plazas, murales e instituciones públicas; se trata de una mirada que refleja orgullo, respeto y admiración. Es así como en el corazón del 23 de Enero, una urbanización popular ubicada al oeste de la ciudad de Caracas, nos encontramos con esta pieza de grandes dimensiones, cuyo artista se mantiene anónimo, pero su obra resalta por contar con excelentes trazos, una buena elección de colores y un realismo increíble y, aunque hoy en día aparecen algunas señales de deterioro, no cabe la menor duda de que se trata de un trabajo impecable, el cual busca enaltecer los valores nacionales y al mismo tiempo nos revela un rostro controversial, pero al mismo tiempo muy sereno, en donde el Libertador está lleno de gloria observando al infinito la grandeza de su legado.
