A Wall of Colors

To bring a public space to life, it’s not always necessary to create a grand work of art, be an internationally renowned artist, or spend millions on a renovation that may not be sustainable in the future. When we seek to add a touch of color to an urban space, we can often achieve this through a simpler—yet at the same time much clearer—vision, where the strokes are synonymous with vitality, the colors convey a much more pleasant atmosphere, and, generally speaking, we find ourselves in a more human environment.

Un Muro de Colores

Para darle vida a un espacio público, a veces no es necesario crear una gran obra de arte, ser un artista reconocido a nivel internacional o gastar millones en una remodelación que quizás no sea sustentable en el futuro. Cuando buscamos darle un toque de color a un espacio urbano, muchas veces lo podemos lograr desde una visión más sencilla, pero al mismo tiempo mucho más clara, en donde los trazos son sinónimos de vitalidad, los colores nos transmiten un ambiente mucho más agradable y, en términos generales, nos encontramos con un entorno más humano.

Take this street in Caraballeda, a residential area with no tourist appeal—a place where residents have found a way to brighten up their surroundings by transforming the gray, bare walls into straight lines and warm colors that radiate optimism, positive energy, and that much-needed boost we all require when we wake up to a cloudy morning.

A esta calle ubicada en Caraballeda, un espacio residencial sin connotaciones turísticas, un lugar en donde sus habitantes han encontrado la forma de hacer un poco más alegre su entorno, las paredes grises y vacías, para darle paso a trazos rectos y colores cálidos, los cuales transmiten optimismo, buenas energías y ese empuje necesario que todos necesitamos cuando amanecemos en medio de una mañana nublada.

I don't know who created this work, but at the same time I recognize that it was a good idea; that little spot along the perimeter is now a much more harmonious, lively space full of positive energy, where every day we can walk with the certainty that it will be a day full of success, where we will gain new knowledge, smile, and continue dreaming.

Desconozco quién es el autor de la obra, pero al mismo tiempo reconozco que fue una buena idea; el pedacito para el perimetral ahora es un espacio mucho más armonioso, vivo y lleno de buenas energías, en donde cada día podemos caminar con la certeza de que será una jornada llena de éxitos, en donde vamos a adquirir nuevos conocimientos, vamos a sonreír y a seguir soñando.
