1️⃣ According to my post retirement financial model, I could almost afford an overseas trip every other year. I'd like my Hive sisters or brothers to plan my 3-day visit to your home town or city. What would we do and where would we go for me to experience your culture?

This 3-day, 2-night logbook is specifically designed to help you get to know the culture of my city, Maracaibo, and is the perfect way for my friend @kerrislravenhill to take our unique culture to heart.

**Day 1 **- Reception and Visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá.

After the welcome and a brief discussion, we will visit the most famous Catholic church in my city, the Basilica and Sanctuary of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá. It has beautiful, modern architecture and is one of the first churches built in the city, yet it is very well preserved.

One of its stained-glass windows depicts the story of how the venerated Virgin, La Chinita, appeared. The story goes that an old woman was washing on the shores of the lake and found a small board, which she took home to cover the water jar and protect it from the sand. Then the board shone, and the image of the Virgin appeared.

During those two nights, you'll sleep at my house, so you can feel the warmth of home that we Maracuchos have, and so I can tell you more about our culture.

Day 2 - We will cross the Rafael Urdaneta Bridge or Bridge Over the Lake, we will visit the Vereda del Lago and Carabobo Street where you will hear the music of my region, La Gaita.

Every Maracaibo native who leaves the city cries upon returning and passing by this National Icon that connects Maracaibo to the rest of the country. There's a gaita whose verse says:

"When I go to Maracaibo
and begin to cross the bridge
I feel such great emotion
that my mind clouds
I feel a lump in my throat and my heart skips a beat
without realizing it I tremble and I'm crying without meaning to."

The Lake Walk or Paseo del Lago is the city's largest park and a must-see for visitors. It features a path along the entire lakefront, bicycles, playgrounds, exercise equipment, a go-cart for children, ice cream shops, restaurants, and places that showcase the history of our lake and its naval battles. It's like an open-air historical gallery. Plus, it offers views of cargo ships and the bridge in the distance.

In the afternoon/evening, we'll go to see the architecture of our houses as they were originally on Carabobo Street. This part of the city center has been declared a national heritage site as it's the only part of Maracaibo that shows what the houses we lived in looked like. Its double-paned windows and elongated doors are characteristic of our colonial architecture.

And at the end of the day, we see what a gaita sounds like. With a cuatro, a furro, a tambora, and maracas, it's a great party. Gaita is our traditional music that has already crossed borders; it's heard in the United States and Europe, and even the Chinese sing gaitas. Gaita should be listened to with a round of cold beers, so you'll get in the mood to dance.

Day 3 - Souvenir shopping and farewell.

After a well-deserved rest after a tiring but well-received day, we had a fast-food breakfast (fried empanadas and pastries) and headed to the Handicraft Market to buy the appropriate souvenirs that will remind you of every moment of this tour. We started with the Manta Guajira, a dress that even beauty queens have paraded on the biggest runways.

Then there's La Hamaca, world-famous, hand-woven by our indigenous people, who do spectacular work. There are also tapestries, guajiro bags, maracas, and countless other things to take home.

With all your luggage in hand, I'll take you to La Chinita International Airport to wait for your flight. But not before saying goodbye, a big hug, and a "Come back soon because we still have a lot to see."

1️⃣ Según mi modelo financiero tras la jubilación, casi podría permitirme un viaje al extranjero cada dos años. Me gustaría que mis hermanos o hermanas de Hive me organizaran una visita de tres días a tu ciudad o pueblo. ¿Qué haríamos y adónde iríamos para que yo pudiera experimentar tu cultura?

Esta Bitácora de 3 días y 2 noches está diseñada especialmente para conocer la cultura de mi ciudad Maracaibo y es lo ideal para que mi amiga @kerrislravenhill se lleve en el corazón nuestra idiosincrasia.

Dia 1 - Recibimiento y Visita a La Basílica de Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá.

Luego del recibimiento y de un pequeño compartir estaremos visitando la iglesia católica más famosa de mi ciudad Basílica y Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Chiquinquirá. Tiene una arquitectura muy bonita y muy moderna y es una de las primeras iglesias levantadas en la ciudad, pero que está muy bien preservada.

En uno de sus vitrales está la historia de cómo apareció la Virgen que se venera, La Chinita. Cuenta la historia que una viejita estaba lavando a orillas del Lago y se encontró una tablita que se llevó a su casa para tapar la tinaja de agua y salvarla de la arena. Luego la tablita brilló y apareció la imagen de la Virgen.

Durante esas dos noches dormirás en mi casa, para que sientas el calor de hogar que tenemos los Maracuchos y así poder hablarte más de nuestra cultura.

**Día 2 **- Atravesaremos el Puente Rafael Urdaneta o Puente Sobre El Lago, Visitaremos la Vereda del Lago y la Calle Carabobo donde escucharás la música de mi región, La Gaita.

Cada Maracucho que sale de la ciudad llora al regresar y pasar por este Icono Nacional que une a Maracaibo con el resto del país. Hay una Gaita que dice en su estrofa:

¨Cuando voy a Maracaibo
y empiezo a pasar el puente
siento una emoción tan grande
que se me nubla la mente
siento un nudo en la garganta y el corazón que me salta,
sin darme cuenta tiemblo y sin querer estoy llorando.

La Vereda del Lago o Paseo del Lago es el parque más grande de la ciudad y es un sitio obligatorio del visitante, tiene una cominería por toda la orilla del lago, tiene bicicletas, parques para niños, aparatos para hacer ejercicios, go-cart para niños, heladerías, restaurantes y lugares que muestran la historia de nuestro lago y sus batallas navales, es como una galería histórica al aire libre. Además de la vista de barcos cargueros y el puente que se divisa a lo lejos.

Por la tarde-noche iremos a ver la arquitectura de nuestras casas como eran al principio en la Calle Carabobo. Esta parte del casco central quedó como patrimonio nacional ya que es la única parte de Maracaibo que muestra cómo eran las casas donde vivíamos. Sus ventanales de doble hoja y sus puertas alargadas son características de nuestra arquitectura colonial.

Y finalizando el día vemos cómo es que suena una gaita, con cuatro, furro, tambora y maracas se arma un fiestón. La Gaita es nuestra música tradicional que ya ha traspasado fronteras, se escucha en Estados Unidos, Europa y hasta los chinos cantan Gaitas. La gaita se debe escuchar con una ronda de cervezas bien frías y así te animas a bailar.

Día 3 -Compra de souvenirs y despedida.

Luego de un merecido descanso después de un día agotador pero muy aprovechado tomamos un desayuno de comida rápida (frituras de empanadas y pastelitos) nos dirigimos al Mercado de Artesanías para adquirir los apropiados recuerdos que te harán recordar cada momento vivido en este recorrido. Comenzamos con la Manta Guajira, es un vestido que hasta las mises han desfilado en las grandes pasarelas.

Luego La Hamaca, mundialmente conocida, tejida a mano por nuestras indígenas que hacen una labor espectacular con sus manos. También hay tapices, bolsos guajiros, maracas y un sin fin de cositas para llevar.

Con todo el equipaje en mano te llevo al Aeropuerto Internacional La Chinita para esperar tu vuelo, no sin antes darte la despedida, un fuerte abrazo y un ¨Vuelve pronto porque nos faltó mucho por ver¨
