Hello dear #ShadowHunters community,

At home, blackouts have become part of the routine. Sometimes they arrive announced, other times they simply happen and everything suddenly goes quiet. That night it was the same: the power went out and the house was lit only by a small rechargeable lamp.

At first, all you can think about is waiting. Waiting for the electricity to return, waiting for the heat to pass, waiting for the night to move a little faster.

But while I was sitting there, the light from the lamp began projecting curious shadows on the wall. So I started to play with them.

On top of the freezer I have a small slender vase with delicate pink edges. Inside there are some artificial violet flowers that are always there, quietly accompanying the space without drawing too much attention.

That night, however, they seemed different.
The warm light of the lamp transformed everything. The vase projected a stylized shadow, taller than it really is, as if the wall were drawing another version of the object. And the flowers opened in the shadow like a small explosion of irregular shapes.

I stayed there watching how the silhouettes changed each time I moved the lamp slightly or when I passed near the freezer. Sometimes the flowers looked bigger, other times the vase became thinner and more elongated.

It was a small play of light in the middle of the darkness.
I thought that even in the simplest moments —or in the less comfortable ones, like a blackout— there is always something to observe if we stop for a moment. The house was quiet, the street as well, and that soft shadow on the wall became for a few minutes a small distraction, almost an exercise in calm.
Sometimes you don’t need to go out looking for shadows.

Sometimes they appear right there in the living room, in the middle of a night without electricity.

And in that simple moment, darkness stops being only darkness and becomes a small stage for light.

Sombras en medio del apagón

Hola querida comunidad de #ShadowHunters

En casa los apagones se han vuelto parte de la rutina. A veces llegan anunciados, otras veces simplemente aparecen y todo queda en silencio. Esa noche ocurrió lo mismo: la luz se fue y la casa quedó iluminada solo por una pequeña lámpara recargable.

Al principio uno solo piensa en esperar. Esperar que regrese la electricidad, esperar que pase el calor, esperar que la noche avance un poco más rápido.

Pero mientras estaba sentada, la luz de la lámpara comenzó a proyectar sombras curiosas en la pared. Entonces empecé a jugar con ellas.

Sobre el frízer tengo un pequeño búcaro, delgado, con unos ribetes rosados muy discretos. Dentro hay unas flores artificiales de color violeta que siempre están ahí, acompañando el espacio sin llamar demasiado la atención.

Esa noche, sin embargo, parecían distintas.
La luz cálida de la lámpara transformaba todo. El búcaro proyectaba una sombra estilizada, más alta de lo que realmente es, como si la pared estuviera dibujando otra versión del objeto. Y las flores se abrían en la sombra como una pequeña explosión de formas irregulares.

Me quedé mirando cómo las siluetas cambiaban cada vez que movía ligeramente la lámpara o cuando pasaba cerca del frízer. A veces las flores parecían más grandes, otras veces el búcaro se volvía más fino y alargado.

Era un pequeño juego de luz en medio de la oscuridad.

Pensé que incluso en los momentos más simples —o en los menos cómodos, como un apagón— siempre hay algo que observar si uno se detiene un poco. La casa estaba silenciosa, la calle también, y esa sombra suave en la pared se convirtió por unos minutos en una pequeña distracción, casi en un ejercicio de calma.

A veces no hace falta salir a buscar las sombras.

A veces ellas aparecen en la sala de casa, en medio de una noche sin electricidad.
Y en ese instante sencillo, la oscuridad deja de ser solo oscuridad y se convierte también en un pequeño escenario de luz.
