Wednesday Walk - A walk through the spring steppe to the undying fire
Hello, friends. Today I want to tell you about a short walk on the Minusinsk steppe. Our walk starts from the outskirts of the village of Bystroye.
The spring steppe is treacherous, in the morning the hard, frozen steppe roads during the night can easily turn into an impassable swamp by noon. Therefore, it is better to leave the car near the village and continue on foot.
So me and my dog Sayan went for a walk on the spring steppe. The Minusinsk steppe is a set of hills and small mountains covered with grass and rare trees.
Climbing the first hill, we admire the valley of the Yenisei River.
Almost the entire steppe from the village to the nearest mountain is one large ancient cemetery, the graves marked with vertically standing stones are more than a thousand years old.
The steppe is cut by many ravines, on the slopes of which the snow has not yet melted. Green grass is already breaking through in sunny areas, and the first flowers will appear in ten days.
So, slowly, admiring the surrounding landscapes, we reached the final goal of our journey. About 70 years ago, geologists were conducting exploratory drilling here. Gas was found, but its volume did not seem large enough and the well was mothballed. At the beginning of the 21st century, apparently due to an earthquake, the well was reactivated and gas began to flow to the surface. After a short time, the gas caught fire and has been burning for more than twenty years.
Locals take guests to this natural and man-made attraction.
The dog Sayan was very wary of this fire, did not come close and quickly left this place when we were going back.
A group of cows was waiting for us at the entrance to the village, and already at the exit we met a girl rider.
Here is such a short walk through the spring steppe to the burning gas torch and back.

Friends, thank you for your attention, see you soon.
Best regards @irvet
Congratulations, your post has been added to Pinmapple! 🎉🥳🍍
Did you know you have your own profile map?
And every post has their own map too!
Want to have your post on the map too?
rugged but yet so beautiful
Thanks for joining the Wednesday, its always fun for me to visit the walks from all around the world, getting a feel for communities where people live and what they see on their daily walks
@tattoodjay thanks for the interesting challenge🙂
totally my pleasure to host the Wednesday walk
Nice walk. Always great to see posts about places we as Westerners are forbidden to travel to because of a BS war. The gas leak looks like a perfect place to put a bitcoin miner. https://www.fool.com/the-ascent/cryptocurrency/articles/bitcoin-miners-fueled-by-exxon-mobil-natural-gas-waste/
Thank you @rt395
It is this burning well that is already useless for use, and the Exxon Mobil project is very interesting
