Colour / Black & White — Deck Views and Machinery Wonders
As someone who's been spending a lot of time on ferry boats this year, I've come to appreciate the breathtaking views from the deck and the intriguing machinery that adorns it. Today, I'm excited to share some pictures I took from the "Aceh Hebat 1" ferry boat, which embarks on round trips from Calang to Simeulue Island. With a 16-hour journey ahead, there's plenty of excitement and adventure to be had!
Let's start with a snapshot of another ship, the "KM. Sabuk Nusantara 110", which is government-subsidized and offers tickets for a mere 16,000 IDR (~1 USD) in comparison to the Aceh Hebat 1's minimum fare of 80,000 IDR (~6 USD). Quite the difference, isn't it?
Now, let's delve into the main deck, where a plethora of machinery catches the eye. Antennas of various shapes and sizes, searchlights, and emergency ships dot the landscape. One curious observation I've made from my many ferry trips is that the deck floor is always painted in a moss-green hue. I wonder if there's a special reason for this color choice.
Lastly, I captured a close-up shot of the KM. Nusantara 110 before departure, and then a distant shot of the same ship from my departing ferry. The harbor's landscape serves as a stunning backdrop.
Well, that's all the stories and pictures I have to share for now. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the images I've presented. Which version did you find more captivating? Thank you for joining me on this journey, and feel free to leave your comments and show your support. Until the next post, fair winds, and smooth seas to all!
