From the outside, the House-Museum stands out with its traditional architecture. Originally, this building wasn’t a residence. It was a salt loft built in the 18th century by the Marquis de Verteillac. The place was used to store and distribute salt, a product that was heavily regulated and taxed at the time.
Inside, several themed rooms trace the history of the castle and the town, like the neo-Gothic room, the monumental fireplace, or the mysterious mermaid with the candlestick.

Vue de l’extérieur, la Maison-musée se distingue par son architecture traditionnelle. À l’origine, ce bâtiment n’était pas une habitation. Il s’agissait d’un grenier à sel construit au XVIII^ème siècle par le marquis de Verteillac. Ce lieu servait au stockage et à la distribution du sel, un produit alors très contrôlé et taxé.
À l’intérieur, plusieurs salles thématiques retracent l’histoire du château et de la ville, comme la salle néo-gothique, la cheminée monumentale ou encore la mystérieuse sirène au chandelier.
