We find ourselves in the heart of a neighborhood with a rich medieval heritage, nestled below the Abbey of Auxerre, offering a picturesque view of the left bank of the Yonne. Our exploration leads us to the charming Rue de l'Yonne, an unusual passage adorned with a public staircase. The half-timbered facades framing this street add an authentic and aesthetic touch to the surroundings.

During the time of the Ancien Régime, this street was entirely inhabited by sailors and river boys, giving this place a rich and fascinating history.

A little further on, in the peaceful Redditch Square, our wonder is heightened by the surprising discovery of an English telephone booth. Intrigued, we wonder how this iconic element found its place here, adding a touch of strangeness and curiosity to this historically laden neighborhood.

Nous nous trouvons au cœur d'un quartier d'une grande richesse médiévale, niché en contrebas de l'abbaye d'Auxerre, offrant une vue pittoresque sur la rive gauche de l'Yonne. Notre exploration nous conduit jusqu'à la charmante rue de l'Yonne, un passage atypique agrémenté d'un escalier public. Les façades à pans de bois qui encadrent cette voie ajoutent une touche authentique et esthétique à l'ensemble.

À l'époque de l'Ancien Régime, cette rue était entièrement occupée par des mariniers et des garçons de rivière, ce qui confère à cet endroit une histoire riche et fascinante.

Un peu plus loin, dans le paisible square de Redditch, notre émerveillement se voit accentué par la découverte surprenante d'une cabine téléphonique anglaise. Intrigués, nous nous demandons comment cet élément iconique a trouvé sa place ici, ajoutant une note d'étrangeté et de curiosité à ce quartier chargé d'histoire.
