A stop in the village of Fuveau (Part 2)

Here we are in the village’s iconic spot: Saint-Michel Church... the famous church we used to see from the highway, perched on its hilltop, always drawing our attention.

It was built in the 18th century on the foundations of an older place of worship and is dedicated to the Archangel Saint Michael, a protector and central figure of the Christian faith.

Located on Verminck Square, it stands out with its simple architecture, stone bell tower, and the religious artwork it houses—most notably an imposing crucifix, a cross pattée (though I'm not sure if it's connected to the Templars... I suppose it is!), and a statue of Saint Michael slaying the dragon.

Nous voici dans le lieu emblématique du village : l'église Saint-Michel... la fameuse église que nous voyions depuis l'autoroute au sommet de sa colline et qui nous attirait tant.

Elle a été construite au XVIII^ème siècle sur les bases d’un ancien lieu de culte, et est dédiée à l’archange Saint Michel, protecteur et figure centrale de la foi chrétienne.

Située sur la place Verminck, elle se distingue par son architecture sobre, son clocher en pierre, et les œuvres religieuses qu’elle abrite, dont notamment un crucifix imposant, une croix pattée (mais je ne sais pas si cela est en rapport avec les Templiers... je suppose que oui !), et une statue de Saint Michel terrassant le dragon.
