Last May 29, 2022, one of our colleagues invited us to their town fiesta at Argao Cebu. The place is too far from our working place. So After our duties at work, we go straight ahead because for sure we will catch the night in the street. We reached the place by 7:00 pm through a Vehicle Van we rented out.

Sonia Beach House

We stayed at Sonia Beach House which is owned by our colleague. The beach house is big, it accommodates all of us 10 guests, it has 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms, 1 living area, 2 kitchens, the other one is outside the house and this beach house is just beside the beach where you can easily dive in if you want.

Town Fiesta

It's Fiesta and the only thing we do is eat, drink and dance at the party in their dancing hall and make some burnfire at the beach . To fast forward it is a night full of fun and enjoyment where most of us are drunk 😅. It was late already when we all finally sleep around 3:00 am but I woke up by 5:30 am just to see this Golden sunrise of Mahayahay Beach and as expected it soo beautiful.

Waking up and having an early walk with this sunrise is worth it. The calmness of the ocean and the sound of the morning breeze are relaxing to the ears.

As you observe, it's not a usual beach we always visit, you will not experience the fine white sand on this shoreline but instead, you will see pebbles that cover all around the beach. It also has crystal clear water that you will love to dive in. You can do snorkeling around to see the fish underneath or just do a sunbathing on the shoreline. It also has a sand bar that ups the beauty of the beach. You can also do camping, just bring your tent then you can spend your night beside the beach. Just make sure you build your tent where high tide can't reach you or else you will wake in the morning at the center of the ocean 😅.

It's my first time seeing a beach like this, A shoreline where you can get a finishing material for your concrete works (pebble finishing) which we usually used on our construction site. I didn't recommend collecting those pebbles and then selling them. It doesn't help me to tell you that this material has an estimated cost of $130-$300 per ton in the Market. I'm glad that the resident of the beach area protect this gift of nature and did not abuse it for personal use.

If you visit the place for sure you will love it, It is not a perfect beach you will always dream of but this beach will give you a stunning view that you will never forget. By the way, theirs a lot of beach resorts/ beach houses and cottages that will offer your accommodation if you will visit, so don't worry. Their are also foods available in the area for your hungry tummy. The people there are friendly and will help you with what you need .

How to reach Mahayahay Beach?

map.JPG

Mahayahay Beach is located in the southern part of Cebu in the municipality of Argao. It will take you almost 3 hours to reach the beach from the City of Cebu. You can ride a Bus from the south bus terminal in Cebu City, it will just cost you, more or less 150 Pesos for the fare. Then tell the bus driver to drop off at the corner going to Mahayahay Beach, almost drivers going to this route know this place. Then from there, you can ride a tricycle or you can walk since the beach is just 10 minutes away from the corner of the road. If you don't feel a public transport you can rent out some private vehicle like what we did, It cost us 300 Pesos each in one ride.

You will definitely love cebu island, theirs a lot of tourist destination that will amaze you.

If you will go to the north of Cebu, their is a Bantayan island and Malapascua Island that catch your heart. While in the south, their is Moalboal and Oslob where you can scubadive with fish and whales.
