" 120 years Old " The Cape Bolinao Lighthouse of Pangasinan Philippines | #LakwatsaniIntoy Diary 067
Hello, my fellow Lakwatsero (Travelers) in Hive. Hopping you're doing well today. In this blog, I will share with you another discovery we've visited in Bolinao Pangasinan Philippines. A Historical structure that aids the maritime during the American colonial period.
The Cape Bolinao Lighthouse
Who could tell that this structure is already 120 years old, it was built during the American period of colonization in 1905. Strong and I can say good engineers built this one. The structure is 27 meters tall and is considered as the 2nd tallest lighthouse in the Philippines. It is made of bricks and reinforced concrete that withstands the test of time and the weather around.
The primary purpose of the structure is to help guide the ships traveling around the West Philippines Sea and the ships passing around the Lingaya Gulf. Currently it is not functional but it is now consider as top tourist destination in Bolinao Pangasinan. The lighthouse this time is closed for interior visit but you can still go near at the base of the lighthouse.
This discovery is a continuation of our exploration during our company summer outing in the beautiful province of Pangasinan last April 2024. From the Bolinao Falls that we first visited that time, we went directly to this famous lighthouse of Bolinao, it was 10:30 am when we reached its vicinity, it was very humid in the area since it is just in the coastal part.
As I observed when we arrived, the parking area was widely open, and only our service was there. Yes, only a few people visited this place when exploring the area of Bolinao. And Im Happy with it, Cause the place is all ours 😅. The Cape is located hilltop in the highest point of Patar Bolinao Pangasinan. When you park your vehicle, you need to walk for 5 minutes only to enter its premises.
There is an environmental fee of 0.36$ only, then you can now roam around. It is just a small area, but at the base of the structure, you will see the stunning overlooking view of the West Philippines Sea. I think if we could climb up to the top of the lighthouse, the view would be more mesmerizing. As they say, sunset and sunrise in this area are the things we should witness but, sadly our time slot is limited only for that time. It is built also on the side of the cliff that gives a panoramic view of Patar Beach in Bolinao and other seascapes around.
After our tour guide told us information and the history of the structure, we had some photos opted for souvenirs, and created more fun shoots of course to make our tour lively. We are just enjoying the tour, the place, and the learning we got.
The place is not so Photogenic for others and has less development around the area. So don't expect too much in terms of aesthetics place when you visit. If you are fond of knowing the History and old structures just like us, this place is perfect for you and make sure to put it in your bucket list in Pangasinan.
By the way, talking about souvenirs, there are a lot of souvenir shops out the premises of Bolinao Lighthouse, They sell merchandise about Bolinao tourist Attractions, They also have T-shirts, Bags, and more. for sure you will enjoy buying just like my friends are.
Locate and Discover!
The exact Location of Bolinao Cape is in Punta Piedra Point, Patar, Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines. It is in the westernmost of Pangasinan. Its nearby tourist attractions are the Patar White Beach, Enchanted Cave, and the Bolinao Falls which we came from first. If you plan to visit it and discover the place you can follow this direction.
From Manila, you can ride a bus bound for Bolinao Pangasinan. Bus fare is only 10$, then drop off exactly on the proper of Bolinao, find a tricycle, and negotiate a back-and-forth transportation going to Lighthouse. The estimated fare for a tricycle is 5$ only.
Travel Tip to Blinao Cape Lighthouse
Bring Essentials, Sun protection, Extra clothes, towel food, water, snacks, and money just in case of emergency spending.
Respect the Structure and the Environment, leave no trace of your carbon footprint, and be mindful of the trash.
Explore the nearby beaches I recommend once you finish exploring the lighthouse. They have beautiful beaches around
Transportation, For me if you are in a group, it is advisable to rent a Van or a private vehicle for your comfort and convenience during travel, it is a long ride and the public transportation in the area is not easy.
That's it my fellow Lakwatsero (Travelers) in Hive in our new Discovery about this Lighthouse. Hoping I give you another place to explore once you visit Pangasinan. Thank you for joining me in my another Lakwatsa (Adventure)
