It's been quite a ride

Two years went by so quickly. That's when I started my fine art photography studies. And when it was time to take a deep dive in to portrait photography, I surely did that and am still sinking. Deeper and deeper. I think I kinda know what I'm doing but every now and then I stumble into something new and realize that I know nothing. Or I forget stuff and make rookie mistakes.

We, meaning my study group that is now named Hajavalo Kollektiivi - Ambient Light Collective, has a a joint photography exhibition in July. So if you happen to be in Finland, or already live here and want to visit the city of Tampere, come to the exhibiton. It's not in the city centre but it's really easy to get there by buss or car. The exhibition is in Haihara art centre. There's a cafe, manor and the former stable where our exhibion is. My series, Moving picture - Liikuttava kuva, is part of the whole exhibition called Extracts from life - Otteita elämästä.

Moving picture, series of 12 photos as part of a joint photography exhibition: Extracts From Life by Ambient Light Collective at Haihara Art Centre, Stable, Tampere, Finland.

Consider yourself invited!

The photo above won't be included in the series. It would have fitted well but I didn't get a responce from the model in time and as I'm having the photos printed to fabric and the company that makes that, apparently can't quite do it in the time frame that they say on their web site: 6-7 work days and 1-3 days shipping. And I should have needed to test the colors with a smaller print first.

But let's see if even these photos are incluned in the exhibition. Or any of my photos! I of course did take into account that the printing could take longer than six to seven days, but their last print, that had small photos in it so that I can see the colors, took 12 days! I did not expect it taking that long!

So it may be that I'm in trouble.

I'm hoping that the next printed fabrics arrive this week.

In motion

Journey, passage, voyage.
Repetition, figure, pattern.
Planned coincidences, a tiny hiccup.
Shift, side wings, offset, change.
A breath, a step, a leap of a decade.
Trace of light, tranquil moment, timeless feeling.
Movement.
It’s a process.

It's been quite a ride.

But it's not over yet. So you'll be hearing more about this. Especially if things go wrong and it's time for me to panic.

I love the technique on that double flash photo. Are those flash being triggered automatically?

Thanks! Yes, I have two Godox AD300Pro flashes and remote triggers. These flashes are really neat, I can determine the delay and I guess if I wanted to use only one flash, I could use strobo. I haven't gotten around to find out every neat feature the flashes have yet.

I don't know much about the Godox AD300Pro, and even less about two of them, but is good to see you.

I finally managed to be a Hivean for a while again. I have tons of things to write about, but you know, there's always something else I neeeeeeed to do first. 😁

So, is this the year you're coming to Finland?

Needs and wants, it's always a fine balance.

Hmm, I'd love to be in Finland this year and would want to catch up for sure but I think it's not a this year thing unfortunately. ☹️

Oh but there's always next year. So one day.

A trip to Australia is in my wants list but... you know. My wants list also has a huge, s bit on the wild side garden and a house built with my own hands. My browser bookmarks list is filled with sites like: traditional building, yakisugi, stave church and my internet searches include: "can you build a bathroom entirely out of wood" and "is there anything that can't be tarred?"

But as it's not raining today and also the temperature might go above 25°C, I think I'm just gonna go for a bike ride.

One day I'm sure...I hope I'm still photogenic when I'm there, you can do a picture of me and sell it to the Louvre for millions probably nothing.

I think you'd certainly have an interesting internet search history and I think you'd love Australia too. Maybe you'll get here one day. I'm not sure when I'll get back to Finland but will certainly be there at some stage to see my brother and niece, and you and eveuncovered as well. ( Keep in touch with her on WhatsApp.)

I hope you enjoy your bike ride...25°C? Finnish heatwave!

The question isn't if you're photogenic, even if it takes ten years untill you can come back here again, the question is how low must the Louvre go sot that they can accept my art. :D

It seems that the Finnish heatwave isn't coming to Tampere today so it'll be a freeze ride.

Haha, well I reckon they'd be foolish not to pay one billion dollars a few cents for my image and then many thousands for your photography work!

I just got off the phone with my brother and be said that it'll be warming up over the weekend so...frozen ride today, warmer one Sunday?

We have these things called jackets here, so when it's cold we put them on. 😬

I'm off to the gun range right now, cold morning of 10°C, and I wonder if my trigger finger will work. I have a jacket on though. Marvelous invention.
