Vienna Skyline at Blue Hour [ENG//PL]

One of the most interesting photography subjects in large cities is capturing city skylines—shots of tall buildings, including skyscrapers, against the sky. The Vienna skyline is an example of such photography. These types of photos are a kind of postcard, showcasing the city's development in the context of modern architecture. Vienna doesn't have many tall skyscrapers, but there are enough to make for satisfying photographs.

Jednym z najciekawszych tematów fotograficznych w dużych miastach jest fotografowanie miejskiego skyline’u, czyli ujęć przedstawiających wysokie budynki, w tym wieżowce, na tle nieba. Wiedeński skyline stanowi przykład takiej fotografii. Tego typu zdjęcia są swoistą pocztówką ukazującą rozwój miasta w kontekście nowoczesnej architektury. W Wiedniu nie ma wielu wysokich wieżowców, jednak jest ich wystarczająco dużo, aby wykonać satysfakcjonujące fotografie.

I had the opportunity to photograph these buildings several times, and my favorite time was the blue hour, which is the time between sunset and total darkness (or after dawn and before sunrise).

Kilkukrotnie miałem okazje fotografować te budynki, a moja ulubioną porą była niebieska godzina, czyli czas pomiędzy zachodem słońca, a zapadnięciem całkowitych ciemnośći (lub po świcie, a przed wschodem słońca).

That day I found an interesting spot on the Danube that allowed me to get a reflection of these buildings in the water.

Tego dnia znalazłem ciekawe miejsce nad Dunajem, które pozwoliło mi uzyskać odbicie tych budynków w wodzie.

Of course, I mounted the camera on a tripod. This time of day allows for a longer exposure time, so the river waters were slightly blurred.

Aparat oczywiście umieściłem na statywie. Ta pora dnia umożliwia już wydłużenie czasu naświetlania więc wody rzeki udało się delikatnie rozmyć.

For a brief moment, the clouds above the horizon took on an interesting color, creating quite beautiful backdrop for these buildings.

Przez krótką chwilę chmury nad horyzontem przybrały ciekawą barwę, tworząc interesujące tło dla tych budynków.

As you can see in the wider shots, Vienna's skyline was not yet particularly developed in 2020, but from what I know, this is about to change.

Jak widać na szerszych ujęciach, w 2020 roku skyline Wiednia nie był jeszcze szczególnie rozbudowany, ale z tego, co mi wiadomo, ma się to zmienić.

The following photos were taken in a different location and on another day. This time on Donauinsel, which divides the Danube into two parts. The most distinctive feature here is Vienna’s tallest building, the approximately 250-meter-high DC Tower 1.

Kolejne zdjęcia zostały wykonane w innym miejscu i w innym dniu. Tym razem na wyspie Donauinsel, która dzieli Dunaj na dwie części. Szczególnie wyróżnia się tutaj najwyższy budynek Wiednia, mierzący około 250 metrów DC Tower 1.

The building is quite impressive, and not just because of its height. One of its walls has a very interesting, irregular shape, which, however, is not clearly visible from this perspective. This is the wall on the right side of the building.

Budynek robi spore wrażenie i to nie tylko przez swoją wysokość. Jedna z jego ścian przybiera bardzo interesującą, nieregularną formę, czego jednak dokładnie nie widać z tej perspektywy. Chodzi tutaj o ścianę z prawej strony budynku.
