📸 Morning Walk Around Rovinj Part 1 📸

Helo everyone!

Rovinj was our base for our honeymoon in October 2023. We spent exactly one week in this town.

Rovinj is a town located in the western part of the Istrian peninsula, on the Adriatic Sea. It is one of the most popular and attractive tourist destinations on the peninsula.

The most interesting place is the old town, home to architectural monuments. The beautiful alleyways also deserve a special mention. Colorful buildings, windows decorated with shutters, lanterns... In short, plenty of photo opportunities!

I didn't sleep much that day. I woke up around 4 a.m. I was lying in bed, and in my head was the eternal battle between the lazy person and the urge to get outdoors with my camera.

Get up, man! The weather will be nice, the sunrise will be beautiful. A unique opportunity for blue hour photos in a port on the Adriatic – versus – I'm not going anywhere, I'll be tired and sleep-deprived. Who needs sunrise photos? What's in it for you?

I said to myself: count to five, stop this damn internal argument. Get out of bed, grab your gear and get out! And so I did it.

View of the Old Town

I reached the shore of the Adratic Sea on Obala Vladimira Nazora Street, about a kilometer southeast of the old town. It was still quite dark, just the beginning of the blue hour. The old town, illuminated by warm artificial light, contrasted with the cool, natural colors of the morning.

The Old Town and the Buildings Along the Promenade

In this part of the town, the buildings reach almost to the shore and are separated from the sea only by a promenade running along the sea.

Light of the Street Lamps #1

When I photographed here, the sea was rough, and waves occasionally washed onto the concrete shore. Street lamps provided a warm glow, illuminating the foreground.

Light of the Street Lamps #2

Blue hour is my favorite time for cityscape photography. It's still bright enough to capture sky details without significantly increasing the exposure. Plus, the warm light from street lamps and other sources balances the cool tones. It's a perfect combination!

The Boats

Oh, how I love photographing them! As for the foreground, they're my favorite. Boats, ships, yachts. In natural, rural, or urban landscapes... Whenever I see them, I always try to incorporate them into the composition of the photo.

The Blurry Boats

The boats on the water are bobbing and turning. It's a great way to use this to add some dynamism and mystery to the photo.

Yachts in the Port

I love their masts reaching into the sky and how they look against the morning sky.
