Evening Photo Walk Around Interesting Places in Żywiec [ENG/PL]

It's been a while since my last full-fledged photography session in Żywiec. The last time I went there for a photography trip was in October 2022, and although I visit the area quite often (it's the main town in the county where I live), I rarely have the opportunity to shoot with my camera.

The photos I have for you today were taken during the October outdoor session I mentioned above. I grabbed my camera and tripod and, early in the evening, decided to take a walk around the city's most interesting spots.

Minęło sporo czasu od mojego ostatniego pełnoprawnego pleneru fotograficznego w Żywcu. Ostatni raz wybrałem się tam typowo fotograficznie w październiku 2022 roku i mimo, że przybywam w nim dość często (to główne miasto powiatu, w którym mieszkam), to rzadko mam okazję tutaj fotografować aparatem.

Zdjęcia, które mam dzisiaj dla Was powstały właśnie podczas październikowego pleneru, o którym wspomniałem wyżej. Zabrałem aparat i statyw i wczesnym wieczorem postanowiłem odbyć spacer, po najciekawszych miejscach tego miasta.

Let's start with Żywiec Park, also known as Żywiec Castle Park. It's a vast park with numerous walking paths and historic buildings. Among the attractions here are the Old Castle with its City Museum and the Habsburg Palace. I plan to write more about these monuments in the coming months. However, I need to get to the park with my camera and create a more detailed photo report.

The photo above shows the path running alongside the Habsburg Palace. Lanterns illuminate each of the park's paths with a pleasant, warm light that creates a pleasant atmosphere in the photographs.

Zacznijmy od Żywieckiego Parku, który funkcjonuje również pod nazwą Park Zamkowy w Żywcu. To rozległy park z wieloma spacerowymi alejkami i zabytkowymi budynkami. Mieście się tu między innymi Stary Zamek z Muzeum Miejskim, oraz pałac Habsburgów. Nieco więcej o tych zabytkach planuję napisać w nadchodzących miesiącach. Potrzebuję jednak wybrać się do parku z aparatem i zrobić bardziej szczegółówą fotorelację.

Na powyższym zdjęciu alejka biegnąca przy Pałacu Habsburgów. Laternie oświetlają każdą z alejek parku przyjemnym, ciepłym światłem, które buduje przyjemną atmosferę na fotografiach.

The warm light from the lanterns highlights the autumn colors of the leaves, and the whole thing contrasts with the cool tones of the night sky. I like this effect.

Ciepłe światło latarni mocno podkreśla jesienne kolory liści, a całość kontrastuje w tym przypadku z chłodną tonacją nocnego nieba. Lubię taki efekt.

At night, the park becomes a perfect place for a romantic stroll. These lanterns enhance its romantic atmosphere.

Nocą park staję się dobrym miejscem na romantyczny spacer. Te laternie dbają o jego romantyczną atmosferę.

From the park towards Żywiec's market square rises the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This Roman Catholic church, dating back to the 15th century, is characterized by its tall tower, visible from many points in the city. It is a tradition that every day, at noon sharp, the bugle call is played from the cathedral tower.

Po dordze z parku w stronę żywieckiego rynku wznosi się Katedra Narodzenia Najświętszej Marii Panny. Rzymskokatolicka świątynia, której początki sięgają XV wieku. Charakterystycznym jej elementem jest wysoka wierza widoczna z wielu miejsc w mieście. Tradycją jest, że każdego dnia, równo w południe, z wieży katedry rozbrzmiewa hejnał.

The cathedral tower is clearly visible from the market square, which underwent a thorough renovation over 10 years ago. The entire surface was replaced, and the market square itself was closed to traffic. A street once ran around the square—you could say it was one giant roundabout, with the small difference that it was rectangular rather than circular.

In my opinion, closing the streets to traffic was a good move on the city's part, even though it initially made navigating Żywiec's streets somewhat difficult. It has made the market square itself more attractive to tourists, and spending time there is much more enjoyable without the distraction of street noise.

Wieżę katedry dobrze widać z rynku, który ponad 10 lat temu przeszedł gruntowną przebudowę. Cała nawierzchnia została wymieniona, a plac rynkowy zamknięto dla ruchu samochodowego. Niegdyś wokół rynku przebiegała ulica — można powiedzieć, że był on jednym wielkim rondem, z tą małą różnicą, że nie okrągłym, a prostokątnym.

Moim zdaniem zamknięcie ruchu ulicznego było dobrym posunięciem ze strony miasta, mimo że z początku nieco utrudniało to poruszanie się po ulicach Żywca. Sam rynek stał się dzięki temu bardziej atrakcyjny turystycznie, a przebywanie na nim jest znacznie przyjemniejsze, gdy uliczne hałasy nie rozpraszają uwagi.
