Hello Black And White Community!

On my hard drive, there are folders filled with photographs that have remained untouched and forgotten for years. Most likely, they would still be there if it weren’t for Hive. One of these folders is called “Cieszyn”, and after a very long period of postponing the editing process, the time for these images to shine has finally come.

Today, I selected a few photographs taken in the quiet, less frequented corners of the city. You’ll find details, an interplay of light and shadow, and elements isolated within tight frames — although some wider compositions also appear.

I remember that the light was difficult to work with that day. The sun broke through the clouds only sporadically, so I had to stay alert not to miss those brief moments. In many interesting spots, I stopped and waited patiently for more favorable conditions. Was it worth it? Of course — it always is. Waiting and patience are inseparable from photography. They are its foundation and the basis of many outstanding images. My patience can be inconsistent. Quite often, I find myself lacking it — although I do try to work on it. That said, there are situations where I’m able to wait in the field for 6 to 8 hours, but these are rather special cases, mostly related to astrophotography.

Na moim dysku znajdują się foldery ze zdjęciami, które przez lata leżały nietknięte i zapomniane. Zapewne nadal by tak było, gdyby nie Hive. Jeden z takich katalogów nosi nazwę „Cieszyn” i po bardzo długim okresie zwlekania z edycją zdjęć, w końcu nastał czas ich chwały.

Na dziś wybrałem kilka kadrów powstałych w spokojnych, zaułkach tego miasta. Jest tu nieco detalu, gry cieni oraz elementów wyselekcjonowanych w wąskim kadrze, choć pojawiają się również nieco szersze ujęcia.

Pamiętam, że tego dnia trudno było o dobre światło. Słońce przebijało się przez chmury jedynie epizodycznie, więc musiałem zachować czujność, by nie przegapić tych krótkich momentów. W wielu interesujących miejscach zatrzymywałem się na dłużej, cierpliwie czekając na sprzyjające warunki. Czy było warto? Oczywiście — zawsze warto. Oczekiwanie i cierpliwość to nieodłączne elementy fotografii. Stanowią jej fundament i są podstawą wielu wybitnych zdjęć. Z moją cierpliwością bywa różnie. Często mi jej brakuje, choć staram się nad tym pracować. Zdarza się jednak, że potrafię czekać w terenie nawet 6–8 godzin — ale są to raczej szczególne przypadki, głównie związane z astrofotografią.
