Jibacoa Beach, a natural paradise to discover [eng/spa]

For travelers who love the sea and the sun, today I show you a place that will be extremely pleasant and that, without a doubt, if you visit Cuba, you will not want to miss. Just 60 kilometers east of Havana hides Jibacoa Beach, a corner that has the tranquility of a natural paradise.
I don't think this destination is one of the most mentioned in tourist guides, or at least I haven't heard of it very often, but I think it's the perfect refuge for those who want to escape from the hustle and bustle of the capital without venturing too far away.

Para los viajeros que son amantes del mar y el sol, hoy les muestro un lugar que les resultará en extremo agradable, y que sin dudas, si visitan Cuba, no querrán perderse. Y es que a tan solo unos 60 kilómetros al este de La Habana, se esconde Playa Jibacoa, un rincón que posee la tranquilidad de un paraíso natural.
Creo que este destino no es de los más mencionados en las guías turísticas, o al menos yo no he escuchado hablar del mismo con frecuencia, pero considero que constituye el refugio perfecto para quienes buscan escapar del bullicio de la capital sin aventurarse demasiado lejos.

Jibacoa surprises from the very first moment, and I will tell you why. First of all: for me it is unusual to find a beach with such intense turquoise blue waters, contrasting with the greenness of the surrounding mountains. I forgot to tell you that the photos I am showing you were taken around 5:30 in the afternoon, a time when the sky normally shows a more radiant blue. But these days, the island of Cuba is being crossed by a trough and it is raining every afternoon, which also influences the temperatures to be slightly lower.
Secondly, unlike other better-known beaches on the island, there are no large crowds or loud music here. The atmosphere is relaxed, intimate, almost family-like; and when I want to relax, that's exactly what I need.

Jibacoa sorprende desde el primer momento, y les cuento por qué. Lo primero: para mí es poco común encontrar una playa que muestre aguas de un azul turquesa tan intenso, contrastando con el verdor de las montañas que la rodean. Olvidé decirles que las fotos que les muestro las tomé sobre las 5:30 de la tarde, horario en el que normalmente el cielo muestra un azul más radiante. Pero en estos días, la isla de Cuba está siendo atravesada por una vaguada y está lloviendo cada tarde, lo que influye además en que las temperaturas sean ligeramente menos altas.
En segundo lugar, a diferencia de otras playas más conocidas de la isla, aquí no hay grandes multitudes ni música estridente. El ambiente es pausado, íntimo, casi familiar; y cuando deseo relajarme exactamente eso es lo que necesito.

One of the greatest attractions of Jibacoa is the impressive variety of marine species found just a few meters from the shore. This makes the beach a paradise for snorkeling and diving lovers, who can admire a rich marine life without embarking on long excursions, having a simply magical underwater experience.
In addition, there are dive sites that offer equipment and guides to explore deeper areas.
I spent the afternoon on the strip of beach located very close to the Memories Jibacoa hotel, about which I will share my experiences in other posts. That part of the beach is very safe because there are lifeguards watching out for the swimmers; and there are also many sun loungers located next to it that are excellent to enjoy the sun in peace and quiet.

Uno de los mayores atractivos de Jibacoa es la impresionante variedad de especies marinas que se encuentran a pocos metros de la orilla. Esto convierte a la playa en un paraíso para los amantes del snorkel y el buceo, que pueden admirar una rica vida marina sin necesidad de embarcarse en largas excursiones, teniendo una experiencia bajo el agua simplemente mágica.
Además, existen puntos de buceo que ofrecen equipos y guías para explorar zonas más profundas.
Yo estuve pasando la tarde en la franja de playa que queda ubicada muy cercana al hotel Memories Jibacoa, del cual en otros post les compartiré mis vivencias. Esa parte es muy segura porque existen salvavidas que están al pendiente de los bañistas; y además hay muchísimas tumbonas ubicadas a continuación que son excelentes para disfrutar del sol con tranquilidad.

But beyond its natural beauty, what makes Jibacoa special is its genuine and relaxed atmosphere. It is the kind of place where time seems to stand still, where you can read a good book under the shade of a palm tree or simply let yourself be carried away by the murmur of the waves.

Pero más allá de su belleza natural, lo que hace especial a Jibacoa es su atmósfera genuina y relajada. Es el tipo de lugar donde el tiempo parece detenerse, donde se puede leer un buen libro bajo la sombra de una palma o simplemente dejarse llevar por el murmullo de las olas.
