When I was young, I loved coloring and was really good in it, but I was unimaginative that I never learned to draw or paint. I was so poor in art that every time we were asked to draw something for our Art class, I’d just ask my classmates to make one for me. I did not want to be embarrassed with how my output would look like. 😅

Normally, when we grow older, we develop creative thinking. Mine though still has nothing to do with art. I know it is never too late to learn drawing or painting but I do not want to force the issue. The best thing I do now is support my friends who are into it.

Last week, I visited the Davao Artfest 2024 in support of a number of friends who showcased their beautiful paintings. I imagine how much time, effort, and energy they have put into these that they really deserved to be supported and promoted. Some friends just paint or draw whatever comes to their mind. Some need to go places to take a picture and make a painted version of the photo. Some paint whatever subject they are passionate about such as nature, flowers, landscapes, communities, name it! What's fun is that, some even do on-the-spot painting of their live subject.

I am glad to know that we still have local government officials who still nurture our local artists here in Davao.
