Introducing...

Hello!
For our first post I thought I would start with some introductions; My name is Bree and my partner's name is Ryan. We have spent the last 3 years based out of Vancouver, BC and spending our weekends travelling Canada and USA in our 1995 Dodge PleasureWay (his name is Rammie). Ryan is our photographer, and I will most likely be writing all our posts.

We bought our Van almost 3 years ago from Whitehorse, YT and since then we have spent almost every weekend (summer and winter) adventuring in it. However, we are about to start our biggest van adventure yet! In the coming weeks we will start making the transition to a more permanent van life.

We are excited and nervous to see where this adventure takes us because, despite the fact that we have been planning this for about 3 years, we don't really have a fixed travel plan (our original travel plans has changed due to COVID-19). But we'll make it up along the way, and we'll have fun while doing it. We'd love for you to join us on our journey.

Thank you! Glad you're following along.
It was definitely cold, haha. We had just been for a hike in -30C! This photo was taken in Banff, AB.

You finally made it ;-) For introduction posts people use the #introduceyourself tag (tags are called topics on PeakD). Then new people will see you. I also suggest join some of the communities and post most of your posts to the community (then use the add to blog feature on that post to post back to your own page, you can even select this when posting when using PeakD so it does it all at once). Until you get a following the communities will give you exposure. Communities are different to tags/topics. Think of tags/topics like Instagram hashtags (although you can only use a limited number 5 or 8 I think ) where as communities are like Facebook Groups so the post actually lives in the community not on your page (ie if you post into a FB Group or Hive community, you wont see the post on your own page unless you share it to your wall page on FB, or reblog it to your page on Hive). I suggest you check out @photofeed as they showcase the best photographers here on Hive. They also have a community here you can post to but you need to need to use the #photofeed hashtag to get selected for their daily roundup which gets you good exposure . Two other places to start posting into to get some exposure and find people to follow are Photography Lovers community and the Photography community. Like anywhere else when your starting out the best approach is to follow people who's work you like and then make comments on their posts.

I am not sure if you can change tags after you post (I know you cant change the first tag). You might be able to edit the post and add #introduceyourself to the tag as I know people look at that tag. Otherwise just add it to another introduce yourself post in a few posts. I will cross post this post into the photography lovers community, that will get the post some exposure from both that community and my following. It is considered spammy to cross post your own posts, but its ok to cross post other people posts. If you cross post something the original author gets most of the rewards and the community gets some rewards and the cross poster gets a small % as well.

Also some communities are moderated, some not. Your own blog is not moderated (its blockchain you can say what you want and its un-censurable ) however people have downvotes and if they think your being spammy they will down vote which will remove your rewards and lower your reputation score. Once your reputation score gets below a certain level most front ends will hide your posts. This is the decentralized way to clean up the site from spam or inappropriate content etc. The hive stakeholders essentially decide as a community via their votes (up and down). Your posts are always still on the blockchain even if they are hidden on the main front ends , and some front ends show all posts (or you can set your settings on PeakD to see all hidden posts etc or to mute someones posts you find offensive etc). The idea is that the user and the community decides what is acceptable not some private overload. So the Science and Engineering (STEM Social worth checking out) community can ban conspiracy theorists where as the flat earth society can have their own community and ban anyone posting science lol.

Winters in a van in Canada! We hope you have some good heating! Our last campervan trip we hit -1c on the coldest night and even with two layers of thermals and 3 season sleeping bags we thought we might have lost feeling in our toes forever!

Can't wait to see more adventures
