El calor en Holguín ha estado tan intenso que ya llega un momento en que solo piensas en una cosa: encontrar agua donde refrescarte. Así que hace unas semanas mi amiga Yessica, su mamá, su niña y yo decidimos repetir una experiencia que ya nos había gustado antes y regresamos al Hotel El Bosque para pasar un día de piscina.

Esta vez llegué bien temprano. Tenía una misión muy clara: ser de las primeras personas en entrar para escoger un buen lugar con sombra. Cuando uno piensa quedarse todo el día bajo el sol, encontrar una mesa bien ubicada es casi tan importante como la piscina. Por suerte lo logramos y nos acomodamos perfectamente.

Apenas cruzamos la entrada hice la pregunta que no podía faltar:

—¿Hay cerveza?

Sí había... pero llegó la primera decepción del día. Los precios estaban muchísimo más altos de lo que esperábamos. Por suerte nos comentaron que justo al lado del hotel había un lugar donde podíamos comprar más barata, así que el problema terminó teniendo solución.

Después decidimos comenzar la mañana con un café en el Bar Azul. Lamentablemente ahí nos esperaba el segundo tropiezo del día. Ya no aceptaban pagos por transferencia para el café, así que tuvimos que buscar efectivo. Pero lo peor no fue eso, sino que el café resultó bastante malo. Sinceramente, ha sido uno de los peores que he comprado en mucho tiempo, y además caro. Definitivamente no fue el mejor comienzo gastronómico de la jornada.

Por suerte, esas pequeñas decepciones quedaron atrás apenas entramos al agua. Desde ese momento todo cambió.
Pasamos horas entre chapuzones, conversaciones, risas y momentos de esos que hacen falta de vez en cuando para desconectar de la rutina. La niña disfrutó la piscina como solo los niños saben hacerlo: sin cansarse nunca y con una sonrisa permanente. Verla tan feliz también hizo que el día fuera especial para todas.

Como ya conocíamos el lugar, llevamos nuestra propia comida. Esa fue una excelente decisión porque pudimos almorzar tranquilamente, sin depender del restaurante, y seguir disfrutando del resto del día sin preocupaciones.

La verdad es que, aunque hubo un par de detalles que podrían mejorar, la experiencia en general volvió a ser muy buena. La piscina estaba agradable, el ambiente era tranquilo y logramos exactamente lo que buscábamos: escapar por unas horas del calor sofocante de Holguín y pasar tiempo de calidad juntas.

Regresamos a casa cansadas, con la piel un poco más bronceada y con esa sensación de haber aprovechado muy bien el día. Al final, esos pequeños tropiezos quedaron como simples anécdotas, porque lo que realmente recordamos fueron las risas, el agua, las conversaciones y lo bien que la pasamos.

The heat in Holguín has been so intense lately that all you can think about is finding somewhere to cool off. A few weeks ago, my friend Yessica, her mother, her daughter, and I decided to return to El Bosque Hotel after enjoying our previous visit. We wanted to spend a relaxing day by the pool and get away from the unbearable heat for a while.

This time, I arrived very early with one goal in mind: to be among the first guests so I could grab a nice shaded spot that would keep us comfortable throughout the day. Luckily, we made it and settled into a perfect place.

As soon as we walked in, the first thing I asked about was the beer. That was our first disappointment of the day. They had beer available, but the prices were incredibly high. Fortunately, one of the staff members told us there was a place right next to the hotel where we could buy it for much less, so that problem was easily solved.

After that, we decided to start the morning with a cup of coffee at the Blue Bar. Unfortunately, we ran into another setback. They no longer accepted bank transfers as payment for coffee, so we had to pay in cash. The biggest disappointment, however, was the coffee itself. It was expensive and honestly one of the worst cups of coffee I've had in a long time.
Thankfully, those little inconveniences were quickly forgotten once we got into the pool.

The rest of the day was exactly what we had hoped for. We spent hours swimming, chatting, laughing, and simply enjoying each other's company. Yessica's daughter had an amazing time in the water, and seeing her so happy made the day even more special for all of us.

Since we already knew the place, we brought our own food. It turned out to be a great idea because we could enjoy lunch whenever we wanted and continue making the most of the day without worrying about finding something to eat.

Even though there were a couple of things that could definitely be improved, the overall experience was wonderful once again. The pool was refreshing, the atmosphere was peaceful, and we accomplished exactly what we had planned: escaping the intense Holguín heat and spending quality time together.

We returned home feeling tired, a little more sun-kissed, and happy after such an enjoyable day. In the end, those small disappointments became nothing more than funny memories, while the laughter, the conversations, and the hours spent in the water were what truly made the day unforgettable.
