El parque de los sueños [ESP-ENG]
Mi aventura por Santiago de Cuba continuaba, y después de visitar el Museo de Automovilismo, llegamos a un lugar que, aunque ha perdido parte de su esplendor, sigue guardando mucha magia: el Parque de los Sueños. Este parque, que se encuentra justo al lado del zoológico, fue en su momento un referente de diversión y esparcimiento en la ciudad. Hoy, aunque no está en su mejor momento, aún conserva ese potencial único que lo hacía tan especial.
Al llegar, me llamó la atención la mezcla de nostalgia y esfuerzo en el aire. El parque tiene una variedad de instalaciones, pero algunas de sus atracciones están apagadas, como el tren infantil y varios juegos inflables. Sin embargo, a pesar de las dificultades, los trabajadores se esfuerzan todos los días para mantener vivo este lugar, lo cual es digno de admiración.
Entre los espacios que todavía funcionan, podemos encontrar el carrusel y la góndola, ambos con ese toque clásico de parque de diversiones. También están los restaurantes, uno de ellos en forma de avión y otro en forma de tren, que suman una dosis de creatividad al lugar. Además, hay una casa del chocolate, ranchos, áreas de picnic y algunos quioscos, aunque las ofertas gastronómicas son limitadas. A pesar de todo, me di cuenta de que, si bien algunas atracciones no funcionan, el parque tiene mucho que ofrecer y un gran potencial por explotar.
Una de las instalaciones que me llamaba la atención era la piscina, que, aunque estaba en buen estado, solo está disponible para niños. Yo también quería disfrutarla, pero me tuve que conformar con verla de lejos. Sin embargo, lo que más disfruté fue el almuerzo en el restaurante en forma de tren, un espacio fresco con aire acondicionado, perfecto para relajarse después de caminar bajo el calor intenso de Santiago.
Al reflexionar sobre el lugar, me di cuenta de algo muy importante: lugares como el Parque de los Sueños nos recuerdan que, aunque el tiempo pase y las cosas cambien, siempre hay algo valioso en el esfuerzo por preservar lo que una vez fue. A pesar de las dificultades que enfrenta este parque, sigue siendo un sitio lleno de historia, recuerdos y, sobre todo, de sueños por cumplir. Quizás, con el tiempo y el apoyo adecuado, pueda recuperar su esplendor y convertirse nuevamente en el lugar de recreo que alguna vez fue para muchas generaciones.

My adventure through Santiago de Cuba continued, and after The Automotive Museum, we arrived at a place that, although it has lost some of its splendor, still holds a lot of magic: the Parque de los Sueños. This park, located right next to the zoo, was once a leading spot for fun and recreation in the city. Today, although it's not in its best shape, it still holds that unique potential that made it so special.
Upon arrival, I was struck by the mix of nostalgia and effort in the air. The park has a variety of facilities, but some of its attractions are no longer working, such as the children's train and several inflatable games. However, despite the challenges, the workers put in daily effort to keep this place alive, which is truly admirable.
Among the spaces that are still functional, we can find the carousel and the gondola, both with that classic amusement park charm. There are also restaurants, one shaped like an airplane and the other like a train, adding a creative touch to the place. Additionally, there’s a chocolate house, ranches, picnic areas, and a few kiosks, although the food offerings are limited. Despite all this, I realized that even though some attractions are not working, the park still has a lot to offer and great potential to be explored.
One of the facilities that caught my attention was the pool, which, although in good condition, is only available for children. I too wanted to enjoy it, but I had to settle for watching from a distance. However, what I enjoyed the most was having lunch at the train-shaped restaurant, a cool space with air conditioning, perfect for relaxing after walking under the intense Santiago heat.
Reflecting on the place, I realized something very important: places like Parque de los Sueños remind us that, although time passes and things change, there is always something valuable in the effort to preserve what once was. Despite the difficulties this park faces, it remains a site full of history, memories, and, above all, dreams yet to be fulfilled. Perhaps, with time and the right support, it can regain its former glory and become once again the place of recreation it once was for many generations.
